Brad Pitt regrets not learning French

By Alexandra Heilbron on August 13, 2009 | 107 Comments

Brad Pitt and daughter ShilohBrad Pitt wishes he’d learned to speak French when he was a boy, because he’s frustrated that he’s having trouble mastering the language now. The actor, who loves France and recently bought a $60 million mansion there with girlfriend Angelina Jolie, told Parade magazine, “I wish there had been an emphasis on learning a foreign language where I grew up. It frustrates the hell out of me. I’ve studied French. I don’t speak it. I’m working on it. It’s real slow going. Oh, how I suffer. Those synapses never formed.” Pitt added, “There’s real value in the quality of life in France. They’ve got a great healthcare system, great education.”

with the ridiculous amount of money he makes he can buy the language itself.

  2. Carol • August 13, 2009 @ 9:05 PM

exactly, I guess he doesn’t know what real hardships are. boo hoo, I have to study the language, I can’t just know it…too bad Brad

  3. nancy • August 13, 2009 @ 9:45 PM

you guys boo hoo!! The person who has fame and money has beautiful grilfriend and kids he can do and speak whatever he wants to do. dont be jealous!!!

  4. Rita • August 13, 2009 @ 9:47 PM

For those who complain that he makes Too Much money. Well, do you pay to go to see his movies? Actally its quite hard to learn French, but sometimes it seems easy. I learned a little of it when I was quite young but I still find it difficult.

  5. toad • August 14, 2009 @ 9:21 AM

I speak three languages other than English, and can read more. I speak French the best – it was the first language I learned and I learned it while I was very young.

Knowing how to speak another language made it much easier for me to learn the others – he is not kidding when he talks about those “synapses” – and also, it “seems” more difficult to learn a language as an adult because as a kid you are not so concerned with making mistakes, and being embarrassed if your accent is not “perfect”.

I say good for him. At least he is making an effort, and eventually it will pay off for him.

  6. Jo-Anne • August 14, 2009 @ 1:16 PM

agree, toad. By far best to learn while young. My daughter is billingual and my parents speak four languages, all learned as youngsters…when I tried to learn two new languages later in life it just didn’t work for me either…

but doesn’t the “Oh, how I suffer” line seem extremely pretentious, way over the top?? please….

  7. mandee • August 14, 2009 @ 5:35 PM

i agree toad. jo, i think he was probably just trying to be funny, i dont think he really meant it to be taken seriously. this article is great in the sense that it can remind those of us that have forgotten, that even when youre famous youre still just human.

  8. Murphy • August 14, 2009 @ 10:25 PM

It only took me twelve years of French immersion to learn the language. Brad’s still got a few years ahead of him. I’m sure he’ll do fine.

  9. tracy • August 14, 2009 @ 10:25 PM

my son has a learning disablility, but he always gets better marks in french class than english. go figure.

  10. Gaellyn • August 14, 2009 @ 11:51 PM

French is not easy at all,it’s a way easier for french to learn english. English is really “straight-to-the-point” but French can’t be learn as fast.
My fiancé is american, I’m french canadian. He lives with me in a french city but after 1 year here, he still can’t catch up.

If Brad wants to learn it, good luck. Need time and a lot of practice.
But anyway, for me, there’s nothing more sexy than an english man trying to speak french: the accent is soooooo turn on 😛

  11. April • August 15, 2009 @ 11:44 AM

Good for him for learning, and as “toad” and “Jo-Anne” said, I agree totally as I am bilingual as I was in french immersion in elementary and high school, and grew up soeaking both all the time, especially at work. I also took German (which is like English) and Spanish (which is more like French) so I know how hard it is to learn languages, but it was a lot easier for me to learn them as I was young and I’m SO lucky to have the knowledge of them now as I can go to so many places in the world and hopefully be able to converse with people and understand them!!

I’ll never forget going to Mexico and I was SO afraid to use it after being out of school for several years and I did really well, and I loved it as I remembered so much once I started and it made my vacation MUCH more enjoyable as I could interact with everyone!! Knowing 4 languages I hope will benefit me when I do win the lottery (yeah, we can always DREAM, LOL) and travel to Europe.

  12. mandee • August 15, 2009 @ 12:27 PM

hmm, ive actually learned to stop reading your comments, just based on the fact that when me, joanne, and toad are having a conversation where we all agree, you jumped in with “Good for him for learning, and as toad and Jo-Anne said, I agree totally” pretty childish if you ask me. i wonder how someone can disagree with me when im agreeing with the 2 of them, but somehow agree with them?

  13. April • August 15, 2009 @ 1:38 PM

I’m NOT jumping into a conversation, this forum is open to everyone, and since you’ve made it clear that you do not want to make peace or talk to me EVER etc., I can say I agree with them if I want to!! Why the heck should I bring your name in as well when you would NEVER do the same thing you’re asking me to do? Make up your mind Mandee or if you say you are not reading my comments, then leave me alone, you are getting to be worst than Nancy now and this site was starting to get civil, but you won’t give up on me, so PLEASE either ignore me completely or be civil!!

  14. Jo-Anne • August 15, 2009 @ 2:44 PM

april, my son has taken Spanish for only one year so far in university and he absolutely loves it. He has picked it up remarkably well for one year. My brother’s girlfriend and children are Spanish speaking so I have been listening to them for years and I just love that language.

I learned French (of course, many hard years) and also Italian for only 3 years and I have to say I’d take Italian over French any day, learned way more in those 3 years than I ever did in French class hahaha! But I am very happy my daughter decided to stick with the French, it will come in handy I am sure. My mom taught French many years ago as well…

I think any languages you pick up through life is wonderful, I wish I had stuck to them a lot more when I was younger and now that I’m an old hag (hahahahaha!!) I won’t be going back to any language classes….

  15. mandee • August 15, 2009 @ 3:00 PM

“worst than nancy” ??? i think you mean WORSE… also, i never said we couldnt talk or be civil, no matter what i say you accuse me of being rude or trying to cause a fight, if youd take my comments for what they are then we wouldnt be fighting. i can fight with someone on one article and have a lovely conversation with them in another. its human nature to fight. i have no problem talking to you, when youre ready to talk like grown ups, lemme know.

joanne, im glad your son is doing soo well with spanish ! also, i wasnt aware that you knew other languages! i wish i knew some. i want to learn sign language at least. do you know any sign language? what about you april? do you know any sign language?

  16. April • August 15, 2009 @ 3:16 PM

    Wow Jo-Anne,

The more we get to know about each other, the more we find out we have the same interests!! I wonder if those language CD’s you buy (where you repeat back what they say) would do any good as I also would like to sharpen the skills!! And as we get older, we get smarter, so we should use our brain and let it soak it all in, right, LOL?!! Hey, what about “Spanish for Dummies” LOL, we should be able to handle it!! I love the language, it’s so beautiful and is so close to Italian as well, so I love the sound of both!! German on the other hand is much more guttural and not pleasant sounding at all, but had a super teacher (female). Also prefer the Parisien french to the Quebecois french that I grew up with, quelle difference!!

I learned more in 2 years of German class than I did in 3 years of Spanish with a crappy teacher who could not handle his classroom, so I had to keep practicing myself and teach myself more of the Spanish since he could never be heard above all the shouting, radio’s and walkman’s on, people eating their lunches etc. Oh, thank God those days are over, don’t you think?

I hope your son has a better Spanish teacher then I did, and it’s great that you put (or helped them choose) languages in their life as it can only enrich it!!

    Au revoir mon amie!!

  17. April • August 15, 2009 @ 3:29 PM

    Mandee,

Just saw your post when I finished mine and I could NOT believe what I was reading!! Do you actualy think after the last 5 posts you have made to me after I was responding to others and you just slammed me for anything or everything, that just because Jo-Anne wrote me, that you think I feel I should talk to you after you have made the way you feel about me CLEAR on every blog on this website? You are way too transparent and juvenile for my taste and until you stop with the constant harassment, then I’ll consider it, but I’m positive that after you read this, you’ll go right back to the bashing again, no matter what I say on what blog!! I guess only TIME will tell.

  18. April • August 15, 2009 @ 3:32 PM

oops, typo error, actualy, should be “actually” was typing too fast as I’m in a rush to get off this site!!

  19. tributegirl • August 15, 2009 @ 4:19 PM

Gaellyn, really? I’ve heard that it is much harder to learn English, as we have words that sound the exact same, but are spelled different and have totally diffeent meanings, such as “to, too, and two”. I took French, and the biggest challenge for me was learning what words were considered masculine or feminine.
Btw, my friend who was only English speaking has been living with a man for the last few years who speaks French with very limited English. She has actually picked up the French very quickly, she’s fluent and that’s just from being with him and hanging around his family/friends.

  20. mandee • August 15, 2009 @ 4:26 PM

it wasnt because joanne was talking to you that i was talking to you. i was talking to you because you were talking to me. i answered you, i never said we cant talk, you just mistake everything i say.

tg, do you speak french and english or do you mean when you did french in school? also, i agree, the masculine and feminine are so hard to tell apart. i used to be great in french when i was in school, been too many years.

  21. tributegirl • August 15, 2009 @ 4:52 PM

Grew up english, have some french, but definitely not fluent. Actually one of my french teachers was terrible, he spoke 7 languages himself, but I don’t know how. He was Lebanese, and his accent was so extremely thick, and there he was trying to teach english students french, when we couldn’t even understand his english!
My daughter is really good at french, but doesn’t think she is, my oldest son is already bilingual, and my yongest son is picking up a lot from his siblings, so I think that’s awesome.

  22. Carol • August 15, 2009 @ 6:50 PM

I think this column is about as interesting as Tatum Chaning getting food poisoning. If Brad wants to learn, then learn. I think his problem is he gets what he wants when he wants it, and this is something he’ll actually have to work hard at. And I’m not saying that to be completely mean. But when you get the point in life, like Brad and Angelina, where everything is handed to you, you don’t have the patience to wait. You want it, you want it now, even if it is not something you can have now.

  23. Carol • August 15, 2009 @ 6:51 PM

forgot to add….that Shiloh is a cutie, isn’t she?

  24. mandee • August 15, 2009 @ 8:14 PM

thats great that your kids are learning tg. i wish my parents had of pushed me harder to learn more french.

carol youre right, i didnt think of it that way. (that they get everything they want so they are impatient) and yes, i think shiloh is ridiculously cute. i wanna see the twins now that they are older.

  25. April • August 16, 2009 @ 1:42 AM

    BTW Jo-Anne,

Have you ever been to Mexico, Spain or Italy to use the languages you have learnt and if so, how did you do?

  26. Nancy • August 16, 2009 @ 4:05 PM

Tributegirl: I’ve heard before that English is the hardest language to learn as well because there are so many words that sound alike but have different meanings and are spelled slightly different.

April: I’m assuming you are Aprilshowers? I see you’re still causing trouble! Your comment on Aug. 15 @ 1:38 PM…I’ve been away for 2 weeks…why are you talking about me? Also, why are you being so “childish” and keep replying to mandee and causing trouble with her? This is only the second article I’ve read and commented on so far since I got back and I’m not even sure if I want to go ahead and read the rest after seeing that you’re picking on someone else when I was gone!

  27. mandee • August 16, 2009 @ 8:02 PM

welcome back nancy !! its good to see that you are ok, you had us worried ! i was hoping they only banned you and that you didnt get in an accident or something (after tg brought it up because i never even thought of anyone getting hurt!) but i was wondering where you got to. hope you had a nice time off! and youre right lol. she likes to cause fights and then blame me 😛

  28. Jo-Anne • August 16, 2009 @ 11:48 PM

    hi april,
I’ve been to mexico and italy a few times, but never used any language but English, my others are real rusty hahaha! I would love to go to Spain one day, a lot of my friends have been there and all loved it and hope to get back to Italy as I only saw a very small part of this beautiful country on my short visits…

  29. demigod • August 17, 2009 @ 12:04 AM

    Gag
    Mandee, you’re too forgiving.
Don’t kid yourself, she never left.

  30. demigod • August 17, 2009 @ 12:22 AM

I’ve been to Mexico and lived in Spain for 4 yrs. I speak spanish.

  31. April • August 17, 2009 @ 1:39 AM

    Really demigod?

Whereabouts in Spain? I bet you loved it? It is one of my dreams to go, would love to WATCH and I mean, WATCH the running of the bulls, did you ever catch or participate in that?

  32. April • August 17, 2009 @ 1:47 AM

    Hi Jo-Anne,

I went to Puerto Vallarta for one week at Christmas and when Santa came parasailing from the sky to the beach with his gift bag on his back, I suddenly missed the snow at Christmas and would never be in the sun again for Christmas and the beaches where I was were not white sand and people everywhere trying to sell me stuff etc., but I hear there are better places to go in Mexico that have beautiful beaches as my Dad has been almost everywhere and his favortie spot is Bora Bora and one place in Mexico (which I forget the name of right now) but it has awesome beaches. I saw his pictures from Bora Bora and that is where I’ve been saving my air miles to go to for years now, but could be awhile longer before we’ll have enough to go, but what beauty and pure white sand everywhere!! My Dad walked WAY out into the water and it was still only up to his waist!!

So where have you been in Mexico? And Italy? I’m SO jealous, Itlay, wow!! Must have been an awesome experience for you? I hear it is also breathtaking?? It sounds like you may have Italian or/and Spanish blood in you, LOL?? Did you ever see the running of the bulls?

BTW, does anyone ever call you “Jo” or do you prefer “Jo-Anne”?

  33. April • August 17, 2009 @ 1:50 AM

    BTW demigod,

    You know I agree!!

  34. April • August 17, 2009 @ 1:52 AM

    Jo-Anne,
    Itlay (oops!)…new country, LOL…Italy …old country, LOL!!

  35. demigod • August 17, 2009 @ 2:16 AM

April, lived in Madrid. The running of the bulls is only held in Pamplona, but Bullfighting is everywhere.

  36. Nancy • August 17, 2009 @ 9:24 AM

Mandee: Thanks! No, no accidents, no banning, just 2 great weeks at the cottage! As for the fights and you getting blamed by her….I know exactly what you mean! Hence the 2 weeks at the cottage!!!!! LMAO. As for her and demigod, hahaha, I think I’d know if I left or not, wouldn’t I? I remember about a month ago, I said “GAG” in a comment to Aprilshowers, and she flew around like a bat outta h#ll calling me “childish” for saying that word yet, demigod spews the same word above and look who’s right on his @$$ agreeing! Of course…she loves the view from the backend, doesn’t she? LOL.

  37. mandee • August 17, 2009 @ 10:25 AM

hahahaha funny comment! but i agree. and thats great that you went to the cottage! how was the weather at the cottage? my aunt is down for a week or 2 so me and the kids slept in a big 2 room tent last night…lemme rephrase that, they yelled, giggled and carried on through out the night, then the one felt the need to wake me up at 8am, THEN wake me up again 3 more times before i gave up at 1010am because it was too hot and came inside lol.

  38. Jo-Anne • August 17, 2009 @ 1:41 PM

wow, d.g. very interesting! Was that a long time back you lived there or recently, it is on my list of places I most want to get to one day!

I have always lived in Canada, save for a 3 year period of time in my teens where I was fortunate to live in Malta. I hope to get my whole family over there next year as they have never seen my beautiful country!

April, everyone (with, of course, the exception of a few choice people on here who like to refer to me under a plethora of “loving” names haha!) pretty well calls me jo, so feel free!

Bora Bora sounds like a paradise. I think I will add it to My List…I’ve been to Naples and Sicily only in Italy, and Tijuaua, (interesting area, crossed over when I was in San Diego) and Cancun only in Mexico.

so many places, so little time, eh?

  39. mandee • August 17, 2009 @ 4:08 PM

dont forget the money costs! i want to travel, dont think ill ever be able to afford it !

  40. Nancy • August 17, 2009 @ 6:01 PM

Hahahaha, mandee….that’s what it’s like when you become a parent, once the kids are awake, everyone’s awake. Sounds like they had lots of fun (and you too), LOL. All that stuff makes for great memories though, those kids know which one they have the most fun with! And they won’t forget. We had a great time. It was really hot but it was better than rain. At least we had fun. I missed the air conditioning though, LOL. And then I come home to over 1000 emails between my work and personal acct’s, massive laundry to be done, hydro ripping up my front lawn first thing this morning, flowerbeds needed a good going over for weeds. The tenant that I rent my basement to watered the gardens (thank god because it was so dry and hot) but the weeds are all mine, LOL. Oh, my daughter and I are going to the movies on either Aug 28 or 29 to see The Final Destination in 3D. It was her pick and we’ve already seen the rest of the Final Destination’s so it should be pretty good.

  41. April • August 17, 2009 @ 7:14 PM

    Hi Jo,

Maybe it is Cancun my Dad likes to go back to? Are the beached white and is it on the other side (not on the Atlantic?) So you are Italian then, lucky girl!! Big and loving families, right? Bora Bora is definitely the only place I want to go to before I die, no matter how long it takes (heck I could die before I get enough air miles to go, LOL!!) but it will be well worth it!! And of course Europe, i.e., Spain, Italy, Hungary, Croatia (which is really being touted as the new place to go for their pristine beaches and not very expensive, as Amazing Race really brought it to the forefront!!) and all the other great countries in Europe as well!! You are SO lucky to have gone where you have as Miami (when I was 17) with my BF, California, Palm Springs, and Lake Tahoe (all in the same trip) and Puerto Vallarta are the only places outside of Canada that I’ve been to, but I’ve seen almost EVERY piece of our beautiful country as they say you should see your own country first as it is SO beautiful, and it is true, especially the West (NO humidity) and the East (Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, gorgeous!!)

  42. mandee • August 17, 2009 @ 8:34 PM

glad you had a great time, and i can totally relate to the no AC! lol. today i was out and about for most of the day, went for a walk by myself (which i NEVER do), took my one niece (the one that would go aha) for a long bike ride, swam twice with both nieces (and i agree, its crazy hot out there!! the pool was like 85 !!! it wasnt even refreshing!). i think i over worked myself on the no sleep day haha. im so tired and kind of shakey. i am trying to get more active in my every day life because since i lost my job ive found it very easy to become lazy. i really hope they remember who was the one to do all the fun stuff with, im the one that takes them roller and ice skating, to the movies, shopping, swimming, bike riding, walks etc. no one else really does anything with them. also, lemme know how final destination is, i wanna see it but i checked movies to come and it didnt say its in 3d in my area 🙁 i want to see it in 3d soooo bad. you know me and 3d ! and (sorry the comment is all over the place lol) i can imagine you would of course come home to all kinds of house hold duties and chaos, thats what happens when you take a break and have a vacation. sucks doesnt it? lol.

  43. Jo-Anne • August 17, 2009 @ 9:40 PM

yes, april, Cancun on Caribbean side, lovely beaches and surroundings…

I am going to look into that Croatia info, that’s very interesting…

I made it a point to work 2 jobs whenever I could and visited a number of places with friends when I was in my teens/20’s, gave up other things so I could afford to travel a wee bit…pretty well travelled exclusively within North America whilst raising our kids, last year went with our daughter on a Caribbean cruise and also saw L.Vegas on a separate trip, both very special memories…

I am actually Maltese and yes, lots and lots of family! love it!

I would love to have the opportunity to see much much more in this world – who knows? maybe one day…

  44. April • August 18, 2009 @ 1:41 AM

    Hey Jo,

When I win the lotto, you and I will have to take off and discover all the areas we’ve alwasy wanted to go see but haven’t, i.e. Greece as well (does Greece interest you)??!! Would be fun, no? One can always dream, right, LOL?

You’re lucky you did a lot of traveling when you were young, I spent most of mine in and out of hospitals so that is why I went to Puerto Vallarta as it was to celebrate the end of my 4 spinal surgeries, and I even parasailed which was so smooth, I couldn’t believe it!! I made sure I asked the guy over and over if it would hurt my back and he assured me it would not and he was right!! I was standing there and was lifted from the spot so softly and went up and saw the hotel and all the cruise ships, ocean, etc., and took pictures from the sky and landed right where I took off from, and it was like landing on a pillow, these guys were good at their job. It was like I was flying, no pressure on the back, one of the best highs in my life!!

The next day, we went to this private island (via a tequila party boat, thank God I hate tequila and DO NOT drink at all) after stopping to go scuba diving and snorkeling (I passed, do not know why, as I love dolphins, whales etc., but was just not into it,) and went through “Las Arco’s (a famous landmark in the middle of the water) and ended up on a small desolate island where the famous movie “The Night of the Iguana” was filmed and I had a nice seat on the beach, watching these poor people TRYING to get up in the air (they were trying to parasail) but their bodies were smashing against the water SO much before they got up at all and I thought “Thank God I did not go with these guys or I would have ended back up in the hospital AGAIN!!” I guess because if the “Iguana” location, some young kid, came by with one and would charge you a certian amount of peso’s to take a picture with it and I’m NOT too keen with them, but held it fast enough for the picture, and to this day, I’ll always remember that picture with fondness!! A great trip overall and that is why I cannot wait to get the heck out of Dodge and go somewhere again, and that is why I’ve set my sights on Bora Bora, as it is so pristine, but much more expensive than when my Dad and his wife went years ago as they stopped by there again on a stop on one of the cruises last year and they could not believe how much more expensive and habitated it was compared to their holiday years ago!! When they flew in (the first time), the airport was a bench covered by a thatched roof, LMAO!!

  45. April • August 18, 2009 @ 1:43 AM

    oops, always NOT alwasy, LOL!!

  46. demigod • August 18, 2009 @ 5:42 AM

Yes Jo, a while ago..pre-teens. Didn’t appreciate it as I do now, but have been back since. Also been to Sevilla, Toledo, Malaga, Costa del Sol (can’t forget the topless beaches lol). I do prefer visiting the smaller towns. Will definitely return.
April, been to P.Vallarta twice myself. Loved it. The backdrop of the mountainous rainforests circling the beaches – what a view! Did some fishing off that long wooden pier too.

  47. demigod • August 18, 2009 @ 5:52 AM

No doubt you had internet access the whole time Nance, and those alias(es)..I’m inclined to believe Tribute.
It’s not just about the word, but the context. April made the distinction. Sorry, but Mandee’s ‘..you had us worried.’ comment was enough to make me toss my cookies, let alone prompt a gag reflex.

  48. Jo-Anne • August 18, 2009 @ 8:43 AM

hahahahahaha d.g, tell it like it is re the MIA Poster…
and may I add, returned somewhat subdued, hence my wings clipped comment earlier…

yes, I never appreciated my time overseas many years ago, just couldn’t wait to get back to Canada! and fyi, Malta went with the topless beach scenario a few years back now, and I am assuming their male tourist numbers only increased!

april, Greece has also been on my list and I am in for sure should that lotto ticket come up! Give me like 3 seconds to pack my toothbrush….I am very impressed you took on that parasailing, I admit I am more of a “hang on the beach, read (one of my 16 magazines I know you have heard mention of in here that I subscribe to haha!) and sightsee type of gal”…it sounds like you went through a tremendous ordeal with your back and I am sure that trip meant a lot to you, your description of the Iguana location is so vivid I can picture it…I am not a drinker either, the odd one here and there, but I’d make an exception if you put one of those wee tropical umbrellas in it with a pineapple and mango slice…cheers!!!

  49. Shauna • August 18, 2009 @ 1:49 PM

accusing people of things you guys dont know and more people are missing to. nancy was but now is here but doug dissapeared and lily. i cant believe you guys when mandee gives concern to some one your sick

  50. April • August 18, 2009 @ 3:00 PM

    Demigod,

Your comment made about the “gag reflex” had me LMAO that’s for sure!!! You should be a comedian!! Also, nice to know that Jo and I aren’t the only ones that can relate to the MIA poster (good one Jo, LOL!!)

So you loved the topless beaches, why am I not surprised, LOL!! Sure sounds like you also had some great trips as well, I guess you would love to go back? I have to admit that I loved the mountains, rainforests were awesome, and everything except for our beach at the hotel (where the sand was so frigging HOT, that I looked like Dudley Moore from the movie “10” jumping from people’s towels, screaming in pain as the sand was scorching,) needless to say, I stayed at the beautiful pool until we went to the “Iguana Island” (can’t remember it’s name now), and our other excursions, LOL!! I’ve heard that our hotel has since closed and another HUGE one has been put there!!

If you like fishing, you REALLY should try deep sea fishing sometime, as I did it and chartered a boat for 1/2 a day with my bestfriend (back then it was $350 for 1/2 day, but the best $$$$ I ever spent) and had dolphins following the boat right beside us, it was beautiful. We were in Provincetown, Cape Cod at the time and each rod has 3 hooks, so you could catch up to 3 fish at a time (which I did a few times) and believe me, “bluefish” for their size are the best fighting fish in the ocean (as per the captains words) and I have pictures of them jumping out of the water on end of my hook, off in the distance and to bring them in, was SO hard, I had bruises up and down my arm from leaning the rod against it to pull up while trying to reel them in!! What sharp teeth they have as well! They weighed at least 22 pounds each, so 66 pounds of fighting fish was quite the job, but I felt like the character right out of Ernest Hemingway’s book, “Old Man and the Sea” (best book I ever read, have you read it?)We caught 34 in a few hours (when years before I had gone with my boyfriend and we had only caught 8) so it was amazing as it was only the 2 of us and the captain and skipper = 4 only on the huge fishing boat!! Well worth the money and one of the biggest HIGHS of my life, that and parasailing, 2 things I’ll never forget, so if you’ve never tried it, I’d HIGHLY recommend it (since you seem to like fishing as I have as my Dad used to wake me early at our cottage and take me out on the lake in our boat to fish when I was a kid.)

    demigod,

I do not have smileys downloaded so I have NO IDEA how the smiley face same up instead of “8”???

  52. April • August 18, 2009 @ 3:30 PM

    Hi Jo,

Greece is on your bucket list as well, TOO FUNNY!! Ever since I saw this OLD movie with Darryl Hannah and ??(played her boyfriend) and they went to Greece and met up with another girl, who showed them around the island is when I fell in love with Greece (and even cut out the article when I saw one about the movie and where it was filmed and for the life of me I can’t remember where is was, as it was eons ago!!)

So it would only take you 3 sec’s to pack, GREAT as I hate waitng, LOL!! I’ve never heard you mention magazines on here though, so you get a lot do you? I get a few myself, but never seem to find time to read them LOL! If you ever get the chance to see the movie “Night of the Iguana” apparently it is with Liz Taylor, you will see the beautiful island I was on!!

As far as drinking is concerned, I remember as a kid I tried a sip of my Mom or Dad’s drink and NEVER liked the taste and then when I was fed up with day jobs (as always been a night person) I took a job bartending (stupid as you have to drink with your customers where I worked and if not you could lose your job) and the first few times I had to do shots, I had to go to the washroom and throw up, I could not handle it, so I made shots that had little liquor but tasted GREAT and fruity (Alabama Slammers) which I could handle, but once I left that job (and started all the back surgeries) I never had another drink after that!! But the bartending job was the BEST and most fun I ever had in a job as a lot of the Montreal Canadians and Expo’s (NO MORE EXPO’S, boo hoo!!) were clients of mine, and after each home game they would come in and drink until closing (last call in Montreal is at 2:45, so you do not leave the bar until after 3:15 a.m.!!) I also met actors as there were always filming movies etc. so I managed to get in the best few years before my life drastically changed!! Too bad it didn’t last a little longer, that’s all!! I’ll never forget when I got out of the hospital after a month and 1/2 (after my first operation) and I had a “Get Well” card from Bob Gainey (who became a good friend when I worked at the bar) and I was shocked as I had it out west and he had to have gone to a lot of trouble to find out my new address, which I thought was so sweet of him. The good old days, LOL!! C’est la vie!!

  53. mandee • August 18, 2009 @ 3:46 PM

    “Demigod,

Your comment made about the gag reflex had me LMAO thats for sure!!! ”

demigod, at least you stay true to who you are, i figured that comment wouldnt have went over well with you 😛 but, i wasnt lying. even when me and nancy dont get along, i never wish anyone harm, and i am glad to see that she is in one piece and ok. i meant every word.

  54. Jo-Anne • August 18, 2009 @ 4:36 PM

I do believe you, mandee, about never wishing anyone harm, and I also believe most here actually would not wish harm upon anyone here….

I get along fine with you and have for a long time, so in same vein fail to see why shauna insists on insinuating I am otherwise “against you”…so drama queen high-school unnecessary…

I venture here to say (hahahaha guess that’s the age in me coming out, venture, what is that??? love it!) you are right, d.g. stays true to who he is, but you have been up and (really) down with Nance for so long, it’s unclear where you are at many times…but hey, that doesn’t mean I like you less, just a tad confusing…

I like april too, I sense there is a lot more to her than the feistiness you interpret as rudeness and some misinterpretation perhaps, but our on line relationship with anyone is just that, all about our choice…

    that’s it

  55. Shauna • August 18, 2009 @ 5:09 PM

no not against her. i mean you dont say any thing to april as she say things to mandee that arent true and we know there not true. like she says mandee start stuff but its not true it was april. you dont say what you see goin on and you know the true and i say it how i see on the paula story and you dont like me for it. i see it like some one getting rape and you turn and wont hyelp and dont want any one else to help to

  56. Jo-Anne • August 18, 2009 @ 5:20 PM

yeah, not getting involved with someone posting on tribute is JUST LIKE not getting involved when someone is getting raped…

    ????????????

  57. mandee • August 18, 2009 @ 7:03 PM

joanne, i dont actually hate anyone. as long as they arent being mean or rude to me or causing me to be mean, i wont be. thats why its so up and down with nancy. when we arent being rude to one another i actually really like nancy. same with april, i liked her fine until she felt the need to pick a fight with me. everyone knows what types of things will cause me to be rude to them, but she still insists doesnt she?

shauna, i dont need anyone to defend me, but thank you for your comment. i understand what youre saying, but joanne doesnt need to defend me against anyone i do fine defending myself. 😀 thanks for your concern though. just because shes my friend doesnt mean she should stop being someone elses friend when they choose to fight with me.

  58. Nancy • August 18, 2009 @ 7:07 PM

So is that what you called me while I was gone, the “MIA poster”?

    Mandee: Thank you for caring.

Demigod: Nope! No hydro. Which means, as I said above to Mandee, no air conditioning and tons of laundry when we got home. I guess I should add to that for your info. that if I can’t get power there, I can’t get landline or cell phone service or internet either…??? One of the reasons why I recently bought a more reliable vehicle. Didn’t ever think I’d have to explain that one!

  59. April • August 19, 2009 @ 12:36 AM

    Thanks Jo,

I appreciate that you see that Mandee may be misinterpreting me, especially coming from you!! I also agree about how Mandee has been up and down with Nancy as well which as you said can be a tad confusing!! But she always gives her the benefit of the doubt, yet NEVER with me!! I think you know me well enough by now that I would rather not fight with anyone, it’s not in my nature, but I’m just tired of always being blamed for causing fights, as the saying goes, it takes 2 to tango!! It just baffles me that she can laugh at demigod’s remarks to her, but if it had of been me, she would have laced into me, hence I cannot keep up with her indecisions. She claims that “i liked her fine until she felt the need to pick a fight with me”, and she’s never conveyed that as she always tends to pick on anything I post, but I never started one with her when I came on the blog, so I just find it hard to believe, but underneath it all, she sounds like a nice girl (to others.)

As far as Shauna is concerned, I find her posts funny, as some, she makes tons of errors in and then, depending on who she’s speaking to, they can be almost flawless, so I like you, am ??????? with her.

Speaking of tango’s, the 6/49 draw is tomorrow, so you’ve got 3 seconds to pack Jo and we’ll be on our way on a trip of a lifetime, LOL!!!

  60. demigod • August 19, 2009 @ 6:28 AM

You’re still assuming I believe in your trip. Funny how you disappeared after that grilling.
    Btw, heard of a laptop?

  61. Shauna • August 19, 2009 @ 7:57 AM

longer comments have more errors makes sence and ya i do make lots i dont care though.

  62. Jo-Anne • August 19, 2009 @ 8:46 AM

tread carefully, d.g. or she’ll “go back to the cottage” hahahaha….

april, I’m packed and ready to go…woo-hoo! no worries re being blamed for any fights on here, there was a time (and I’m sure it’ll come again) where if I simply posted “I agree” or something equally mild, the wolf pack came out and pounced…as for your comment giving someone the benefit of the doubt, yes, that’s been noted on here many times as well (not speaking of mandee alone) and it’s inconsistent, but again, it happens, you got to realize some of these guys stick together no matter what…

  63. mandee • August 19, 2009 @ 11:29 AM

April on August 19, 2009 12:36 AM i never laughed at demigods remark :S i told him im glad he stays true to who he is rather than to act like my comment didnt do anything with him. i posted what YOU said in regards to his comment because i thought it was childish youd find it funny. and like i said about nancy, i do not wish her harm, and i do like her when we are getting along. if you would understand that you misinterpret the tone in my messages a lot, then things wouldnt escalate into a fight and we would be able to be nice to each other as well. if you read my other comments, youd understand what i mean by ups and downs. i dont HATE anyone, ever. also, i dont think just because someone has a fight or 100 fights with you that it means you cant still be friends or talk to each other.

jo, i was on my own back when april started picking fights with me. ive never had a fight with someone that i dont believe was worth it. i dont stick together with anyone, i stick with what i believe and what i feel. when april starts treating me with respect and not being rude about my opinions and thoughts, i will do the same with her. its a 2 way street. as long as shes willing and ready to fight, so am i.

  64. April • August 19, 2009 @ 8:23 PM

    Hi Jo,

You are right Jo, they do all stick together, no matter what you say!! The only problem I have with Mandee is NO matter what I say, she simply HAS to respond as she says I do not understand her “TONE” in her remarks, perhaps that’s because (as you KNOW) “TONE” is HEARD (as in over the telephone or in person) and CANNOT BE READ, if she was older, she might understand that, so instead she surmises what my “TONE” is, which is quite funny (when you think of it) just as I cannot know what her tone is either, so I can never see how this will ever be resolved as she has clearly said that she needs to release her anger and that this site is good for her to do on, so she uses me as her punching bag and I’m SO sick of every post of mine being followed by her saying something negative ALWAYS!! Oh well, like you said above, how the same people stay together, as the saying goes “birds of a feather flock together”, so I guess I’m in an NO win situation here!! I’ve had to overcome a lot more in my life, so this is mere crackers, LOL!

As I told my hubby last night (and I did, REALLY) get ready in case my numbers come up we’re OUT OF HERE!! BTW, since you are for Malta, what is the official language there, Italian?

Also, knowing how much we both LOVE “Daughtry”, since I do not know where you live, IF you listen to CHFI (from Toronto) and want to join their website, you can win tickets for his show and their tickets are GREAT as I won 2 for Rod Stewart (what an AWESOME NIGHT) and also for an Up Close and Personal interview (for their show) with Sarah McLachlan and she also sang a few songs and because they happened to choose my question to ask her (for the show) I got to sit in the front row (right in front of her) and was only about 2 feet MAX from her, and what a GREAT night as there was only a small crowd of about 200 people and I took tons of pictures as well. I must say she is MORE beautiful in person!! If you would like the link to join the radio site, let me know and you could be on ytour way to see “Daughtry”!!

Also they had a link to a funny video on YOUTUBE, which I have to admit I could not stop laughng at and thought you might get a good chuckle out of it as well:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMIcCY1mB3E

Tell me what you think of it and don’t forget that toothbrush, LOL!!

  65. Nancy • August 19, 2009 @ 9:58 PM

Demigod: Yeah, I have heard of a laptop, I’ve also heard of a generator too but I don’t use one there. Have you ever heard people say that the reason why they go on vacation or camping or to the cottage is to get away from the things in their everyday life? It would kind of defeat the purpose to take the luxuries from home, wouldn’t it? Anyways, you’re “assuming” I actually give a sh!t what you (or Jo-WAnne) believe. I’d like to know what “grilling” you think I disappeared after though? I don’t recall any grilling.

Jo-WAnne: No one “pounced” on you for posting something as simple as “I agree”. As for some people “stick together no matter what”…your pack of friends on this site are absolutely very good at doing that.

Mandee: For the most part, I like you too and I totally understand what you are saying about April because she did the same thing to me on that MJ article back in July. I hadn’t even said anything and she started with me and then when I would reply to her rude comments to me, she’d go on about how “childish” I was for replying to her….meanwhile, she was doing the exact same thing. You noticed and mentioned it to her it on that article, so did Lily and one or two others but…like Jo-WAnne said in her above comment “some of these guys stick together no matter what”…and that is exactly what Jo-WAnne, demigod and Doug did, knowing full well that she was being a hypocrite and totally out of line but because of their hatred for me, the pack of wolves all stuck together.

  66. Jo-Anne • August 19, 2009 @ 10:29 PM

watch it…it’s “back to the cottage for you”…

  67. mandee • August 20, 2009 @ 1:05 AM

lmao you guys are hilarious 😛

  68. April • August 20, 2009 @ 2:04 AM

    Jo,

ROTFLAMO, you always have the best one liners!!

  69. demigod • August 20, 2009 @ 4:01 AM

    Nancy on August 19, 2009 9:58 PM

The Land’O Denial is a good place to be eh?

  70. Jo-Anne • August 20, 2009 @ 2:08 PM

april, I’m on it! going straight to that radio website and joining and if I win tickets for Daughtry I’ll be ecstatic!!!!

Malta has it’s very own language, Maltese, which is a cross kind of between Italian/Arabic and I must say nowhere near as “pretty” as the Italian language, which I love when hearing it in many songs. I tried to learn Maltese many times and gave up, Italian on the other hand easier than French to learn for me but I didn’t stick with it, wish I had…

  71. Jo-Anne • August 20, 2009 @ 2:09 PM

p.s. april, I saw Rod Stewart at Molson Ampitheatre last year and also had seen him previously way back a couple of times in concert too. Big Fan… how amazing to win seats and also for Sarah M…

  72. April • August 20, 2009 @ 6:13 PM

    OMG JO,

We were at the same concert as those are the tickets I won for his concert in August right? What A SUPER SHOW, NO?

I’ve ssen him about 8 times in my life and never tire of his shows as he always mixes them up! Luckily when I lived in Montreal I knew the promoter so I always got GREAT seats (I paid for them though but didn’t mind at all, LOL) and even saw the Jackson’s VICTORY tour, the last one they did together (and it was the most expensive ticket I ever had to paid for, $50 each, but the promoter let me have 10 to sell and I sold them PDQ!!) and still have the ticket stub and program!!

WOW, If either of us win, we should take each other (unless your huby loves him too??) If you go to “blogs” on the CHFI website, then go to “real life blogs” and there is 3 blogs and one is called “Married and Alive” and that is where you will see the pictures of the barn I told you about. Let me know if you find it okay?

    Caio!!

  73. April • August 20, 2009 @ 7:47 PM

    demigod,

    You’re up to bat, LOL!

  74. Nancy • August 20, 2009 @ 7:53 PM

Yeah demigod, watch you don’t hurt yourself! 😉

  75. mandee • August 20, 2009 @ 11:32 PM

i wonder how long april will be on demigods side once demigod finally puts her in her place? its only a matter of time.

  76. April • August 20, 2009 @ 11:50 PM

I wonder how long you’ll go around trying to cause trouble as you are above, when there is none, especially when you claim I START EVERYTHING……HUM…..DOESN’T look like it here, does it? Again, you have started something against me, which is the norm now and it’s only time before everyone else sees it as well, so get ready!!

  77. mandee • August 21, 2009 @ 2:01 AM

uh huh. ask gypsy, i fought with her and when she stopped, so did i. ask nancy, same deal, ask joanne, same concept. theres plenty of people i have fought with on here that we have gotten over it and moved on because we are adults and thats what we do. but you continuously edge me on and try to cause fights and give me reasons to respond. when YOU stop, so will i.

  78. demigod • August 21, 2009 @ 4:30 AM

    mandee on August 20, 2009 11:32 PM

C’mon Mandee, you know I’m not like that. Who else have I done that to other than Nancy hehe

  79. demigod • August 21, 2009 @ 4:34 AM

    April, you’re good.

  80. mandee • August 21, 2009 @ 2:38 PM

i know, but it will be fun if you do. 😀

  81. demigod • August 21, 2009 @ 7:20 PM

More fun to you perhaps 😉
I go on attack mode if I feel it’s warranted 🙂

  82. April • August 21, 2009 @ 9:14 PM

    Thanks demigod,

NO problem, LOL!! I know, we’re cool!! You never answered me about the deep sea fishing? Did you ever try it?

At lest you are a nice guy, who just happens to entertain me with your disdain of Nancy, LMAO!! Thanks as it saves me from having to do it and you do it SO much better (and funnier), LOL!!

    MUCHAS GRACIAS!!

  83. April • August 21, 2009 @ 9:25 PM

    Hey Jo,

I looked at the CHFI website and saw that the Daughtry tickets were available for 2 darn days to enter to win, RIP OFF!! But the million dollar question is: did you join? I have many reasons why I’m asking as I can make it a lot easier for you on the webiste if you are?? Let me know, okay? Did you by chance see the barn on the CHFI website that I mentioned on the “Married ALive” blog? If so, wasn’t it beautiful, an awesome mix of rustic and elegance!

Hate to be the one to break it to you, but I LOST the 6/49, I KNOW, I thought it was a sure thing too, LMAO!! One can try, right? And I do win a lot of online contests (cash ones too), and someone has to win, right, so I’ll keep trying (as I get a Super 7, (which is ending in November, did you know?) and 2 X 6/49’s a week,) and I’ll let you kow when I hit the jackpot so you can pack your toothbrush in 3 seconds, LOL!!

    A Bientot!!

  84. Jo-Anne • August 22, 2009 @ 10:31 AM

hi april, no, actually haven’t gone on that website yet, been so busy! soon….

nance, “the pack” has already spoken and triumphed and you were voted off….to the cottage…

  85. Jo-Anne • August 23, 2009 @ 8:10 AM

I hear the loons are particularly haunting this time of the year in cottage country…

  86. Jo-Anne • August 23, 2009 @ 3:58 PM

    hahaha mandee!!
I never venture into cottage country…I hear it’s a desolate computer free zone…

  87. Nancy • August 23, 2009 @ 6:43 PM

Awe mandee! I thought maybe you had finally seen the light. That was an excellent comment from “mandee” and now you’ve gone and ruined it by it not being from the “real” mandee!! LOL.

  88. Jo-Anne • August 23, 2009 @ 7:11 PM

what a shock, mandee! someone actually posting under your name?

    how original would that be??????

  89. mandee • August 23, 2009 @ 7:55 PM

    i think its moondog

  90. April • August 23, 2009 @ 11:17 PM

Thank you Mandee (for changing your mind as it was NOT me, more moondogs way, especially lately),

I would NOT stoop that low and this guy has insulted both us us and I stood up for both of us when he did!! HE’s a SHIT disturber and I’ve had enough of his inept spelling and trying to cause trouble between friends!! Beware of this guy as he’s insulted everyone of us at one time or another and now, he’s posting using your name, NOT COOL and BEWARE MOONDOG as you should know by now that Mandee, Nancy, Jo-Anne, Tribute girl, myself and a lot of others will not let you get away with it!!

  91. April • August 23, 2009 @ 11:30 PM

    Hi Mandee,

I copied and pasted this from the Jude Law website:

    moondog on August 17, 2009 9:14 PM
mandees an idjit but i gotta say aprils a megaidjit

April on August 18, 2009 2:18 AM moondog,

If you are going to insult Mandee and I, at least spell it right (DICTIONARY!!)

As you can see, he thinks we are both IDJITS (LOL) so I would NOT trust him at all.

Also please go to Paula’s blog, there’s a message there for you!! Thanks!!

  92. mandee • August 24, 2009 @ 7:23 AM

april, thanks for the comments. im not too worried about what moondog has to say because, as far as im concerned, anyone that doesnt know how to properly spell or use the english language isnt worth my time or effort.

  93. April • August 24, 2009 @ 2:58 PM

Exactly how I feel and I also know that Jo feels the same way as we are constantly being harrassed by him and both say the same thing to him (but Jo always says it better, she has a gift of the gab and lakes me laugh all the time!!)

  94. April • August 24, 2009 @ 3:03 PM

    Hi Jo,

How the heck are you doing? Said you were busy and hadn’t had time to go to the CHFI website, but as I explained the contest was only for 2 days anyway, crappy one this time, but the show is for sometime in November (if I remember correctly) so I’m sure all radio stations will have contests to win tickets for him, and I will keep you updated about it if I see one anywhere online, okay?

  95. Nancy • August 24, 2009 @ 5:42 PM

I think moondog is rude because he calls people (maybe even me once or twice, haha) “idjit” but, I don’t discriminate against people because of their spelling or grammar. That’s just the way I am. No one here is any better than the next guy, right? Yeah, I know Jo-WAnne will say that I have mentioned about her always starting her sentences with small letters and sometimes she makes a mistake but, everytime it was because she commented to Tribute about errors in the article or to other commenters about their spelling. I don’t think it’s right and I find it very “nit-picky”.

  96. mandee • August 24, 2009 @ 9:02 PM

im not “nit-picky” silly. i only think if you spell 95% of the words wrong, to the point i can barely understand, you shouldnt be on here 😛 lol

  97. demigod • August 25, 2009 @ 4:20 AM

I second that, Mandee..some of it is just cryptic.

  98. Jo-Anne • August 25, 2009 @ 4:51 PM

thanks april, but I went and bought tickets, got amazing seats too! Looking forward to seeing him in November now…

yeah, very busy week for me, boys getting ready to return to college/university and I am going off work for about 2-3 weeks soon so getting caught up!

hope all is well with you…

  99. moondog • August 25, 2009 @ 7:58 PM

ya nance i called u idjit before cause u r like all the rest of them!

  100. Nancy • August 25, 2009 @ 9:19 PM

Hey, no problem moondog, hahaha. To each their own. I’ve been called worse…and I’m not a nit-picker. I just laugh it off and move along.

  101. April • August 26, 2009 @ 3:28 AM

    Jo,

You bugger, are you and the hubby going? Whereabouts are the tickets? Where is he playing? Please do me a favour and go to the Jackson doctor manslaughter blog, long message for you there, okay and get back to me (if I’m not dead by then, LOL, as I’ve been having these BAD chest pains (feels like a heart attack) and I went in the hospital for a stress test as my Dad is like a cat with 9 lives and has had about 8 heart attacks and also over 25 years ago a triple bypass surgery that recently failed on him and only 1 of the 3 valves is SLIGHTLY open keeping him alive, so he could go anytime, anyday!!) So I swear, I wish he lived near me and not across the country as everytime the phone rings and I see it is from his house, I worry that is is my stepmom, telling me he has had another heart attack or that he COULD be DEAD!! He told me that stress tests show NOTHING (and he would know) so I’m going to talk to my Dr. next time I see him and get the next one, which is done the same but with x-rays (via nuclear medicine) so we shall see!! Chat later and remember to get back to me please! CAIO!!

  102. Jo-Anne • August 26, 2009 @ 8:54 AM

wow, that is not good, april, all this stress is getting too much and you need to take care of your health.

My dad had a quadruple bypass many years ago, his entire family all had bypasses as well, he is the only surviving sibling now, I have been involved in all this heart stuff for awhile now. You take care of yourself, and I do hope your step dad stays well too.

sometimes the chest pains signal anxiety, I know a few people who have been rushed to hospital believing it was a heart attack and turned out to be anxiety attack, which is serious enough in itself as they had many hurdles to cross after those episodes too.

re tickets, no, I am going with 3 girlfriends who are fans as well. I went to a few concerts (The Who, Bachman/Cummings/ZZ Top, CSNY, Springsteen) over the last couple years with hubbie, but he doesn’t follow Idol and not as interested in seeing this show.

I am hoping to get Keith Urban tickets as well, I am not a huge country fan, but there’s one or two I’d see…

april, where are the chest pains? mine were partially the middle of my chest and just underneath by a bit. maybe you are having gallbladder problems as well? i would suggest you get them to do an ultrasound and get them to check your gallbladder. i know the pains i was getting were so bad i really thought i would die. also, keep track of what you eat, then when you get the chest pains look at the list. if its when youve eaten really greasy food (for instance, fries) then it is also another sign of gallbladder trouble. sorry to hear about your dad and jos. my dad had triple bypass surgery 10 years back and has had a few minor heart attacks since. im surprised at how common that is these days! hope you feel better soon !

    Hi Jo,

Lucky for you and your pals!! I’m glad I told you about the show as I bet you got some pretty good seats then?? Did you also read my post that we were at the same Rod Stewart concert as you said you went last year and that is when I went in August (when I won the CHFI tickets), GREAT SHOW and awesome t-shirts (had to buy another one, that makes around 4 I have now,) YES, I ADORE him!!

Boy, your Dad has heart problems as well? He’s lucky his didn’t collaspe like my Dad’s did!! He had his over 25 years ago and since then about 6-7 heart attacks and the one when he found out it had collasped, was a few years ago and he was on holidays in Arizona and watching the Academy Awards and felt chest pains (and pays a lot $$$ for health care insurance) so when they went to the hospital and did a few tests, they knew they had to get him back a.s.a.p. to Canada, so he flew back via lear jet (all covered because of his HIGH insurance rates when he travels as he is HIGH risk) to Calgary hospital (and he lives in Creston, B.C., but used to live in Calgary and that is where the surgery was originally done). He is my Dad, (I have no stepdad) as he left my Mom for a french Canadian woman, 20 years younger (as we were living in Montreal at the time) that worked with him at the stock exchange and my Mom never remarried but loves her life and doesn’t want a man, LOL!! I also inherited MIGRAINES from him, but he has not had one since his triple bypass (and he quit smoking after that and he was at least a 2 pack a day smoker then!!) My migraines are so frequent that I’ve tried SO many different types of meds for them, but finally found one that works (75% of the time if I catch it right away, but can make my tummy sick.) I know exactly what to look for when it comes to a heart attack, all the symptoms etc., so I was totally convinced I was going to drop dead when I had to have the stress test, but thank God I was a jock when I was young or I would not have been able to get through it, and that is what I’ve been told is keeping me out of a wheelchair now, as after so many spinal surgeries, the norm would be incapacitated and the Dr. told me if it wasn’t for all the sports I was involved in that kept me in such good shaoe, I would have been in one by one for sure, so I guess I should be happy, but it was those sports that started all of this to begin with!! Can’t win eh?

    Mandee,

How funny as when you told me you had gallstones, I told you how I also had them (did you read that post?) and that I was told if I changed my diet, they could go away….well, as I said in my post, they did, and you are right GREASY FOODS are a definite NO-NO, but I’ve never liked greasy food anyways, but I know the pain they cause and you also get a lot of phlegm that comes up from your throat and are costantly spitting it out, did you have that as well?

ohh shoot! i DID read that comment, but i completely forgot about it. ive been busy walking and bike riding and walking around the malls and stuff, and since i started being more active i seem to be forgetting more and more. i have post nasal drip, so yes i have the phlegm ICK! its so gross ha ha. you should get your gallbladder checked again, because maybe the gall stones came back. ive heard they can be reoccurring. im glad your dad had insurance that covered the costs of his trip back to canada.

    No kidding!!

I mean a LEAR jet, that would have cost him a fortune had he NOT had the insurance, but the insurance DOES cost him a fortune, as he’s always complaining about it, but at least this man has travelled all over the world, must be nice, LOL!!
