Brad Pitt spent $18K on rodent house

Brad Pitt with Zahara and PaxBrad Pitt just spent $18K on a custom home that he designed and built for his kids’ gerbils. Maddox and Pax picked out the furry creatures last month at a pet store in France. An onlooker told British paper The Sun: “The boys were really keen to get the gerbils and it was Angelina who reached into the cage to pet them before a store worker got them out.” The rodents’ new home, located at the family’s southern France mansion, has tunnels, platforms, seesaws and mazes. “Brad pores over architectural journals like some people pore over newspapers.  He had so much fun putting this run together for his kids Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh and Pax,” an unnamed source told the paper. “It is incredibly complex and cost a lot but Brad’s more than happy with any activity that can combine his two passions — the kids and architecture.”

    Hahaha, jo!

So, I wonder what the truth is, because the other day I heard he spent 80k and I thought, jeeze, that’s half a house for us “normal” folk! Well….I guess they have to spend it somewhere, right?

If Brad “put this together”, what was the $18,000 spent on? That’s a lot of plywood and chicken wire. Or did he have “so much fun putting this run together for his kids” by paying other people to do it?

However it was spent, it must be a very extravagant “house”. And I guess if society’s priorities are so mixed up that celebrities can command multi-million dollar salaries, those celebrities can spend it as they see fit. But one has to wonder what kind of values these kids are learning when a $50 hamster cage good enough for everyone else isn’t good enough for them.

I am sure that Brad had fun with this project and I hope that he shared his talent with his children and took the time to build it himself along with his kids. There is nothing better than fostering a sense of wellbeing and teaching children some basic lifeskills by doing such projects. Yes its true Brad has more money so he can think “BIG” and basically do whatever he wants but kids still need to learn these lifeskills for their own personal satisfaction no matter how much money they have access to. If kids do this kind of thing along with a parent they take great pride in their accomplishment and can appreciate what it takes to do these tasks.
Perhaps “Dad Brad” could get the kids involved along with him in designing and building small liveable homes for children in desperate situations.

well, most likely the 500 gerbil nannies salary is worked into that figure…

im glad to see that these parents are WILLING to spend an obscene amount of money on their children. most parents wont even spend what they CAN afford on their kids. it sounds like brad and angelina are doing a great job being parents.

meanwhile, i was in the grocery store yesterday and i heard a child who was like 5 say to his dad can i have some chips? and the dad said well, what did you do to deserve chips? and the boy just looked at him and he said besides if i waste all my money buying you stupid things like chips then i wont have money for anything but you.

i honestly could not even believe that someone would say something like that to their child over a friggen bag of chips !! is it really THAT expensive to buy a small bag of chips? or is it really that hard to simply say no not today? other parents of the world make these 2 look like saints, even if they are making mistakes mainly by being celebrities. (im sure if this was any NORMAL couple and we heard about them adopting and having so many kids or spending obscene amounts of money on them everyone would be praising them left right and center. just because they are celebs, nothing they ever do can be considered good enough for anyone.) yes, it is a crazy amount of money, but if you take into account their paychecks, this 18k rodent house comes out to be (to them) about the price of our 50 dollar cages. its not HOW MUCH they spend compared to us, its how much they spend based on their salary that we should be looking at.

a mansion for the gerbils…now I’ve heard everything. This is a fine example of “more money than brains”. Do you know the 50 richest people in the world could stop world hunger? I know they do their “fair share” but our share, when it comes to helping others, is not equal for everyone. I would be embarrassed to have the public know I spent that on a rat house.

i think the reason behind them being ok with someone making this public is because it shows that no money is too much when it comes to the jolie/pitt children.

Wonder who’s going to open it up & clean it? These things need to be cleaned on a very regular basis, I can’t quite picture Angelina cleaning gerbil poo.

mandee sounds like you don’t have kids to me. I commend that father for not giving into his kids demand for chips. My kids ask me for something everywhere we go, after a while your answers get short. Most parents show love by buying their children gifts or food, that is why there is no work ethic in today’s youth. Don’t judge a man till you walk a mile in their shoes. The good thing about the Jolie Pitt kids is angelina will drag them to some third world country and make them see just how good they really have it.
