Channing Tatum sick of stripper talk

By Alexandra Heilbron on February 19, 2010 | 12 Comments

null wishes he had been as “cool” as the Chippendales when he was a stripper. The actor has been open about his past as a male dancer, recently giving an impromptu example of how he used to strut his stuff on the Ellen DeGeneres show. Channing worked at venue Male Revue, but admits he wasn’t as good at the job as some of the other men. “No, we were just normal male strippers. We were nowhere near as cool as the Chippendales,” he laughed. “What I always say is that I’m not proud of it but I’m definitely not ashamed of it. The problem is once you start talking about it once, it’s all anybody wants to talk about.” The 29-year-old has since carved out a successful film career and can be seen in the hit movie Dear John.

Channing has been in the Step Up movies 1 & 2 and then there was another one where he played a criminal – not a great movie, but all the actors have to start somewhere. He is not just a pretty face, he’s a great dancer didn’t use a double in the Step Up films

Why is he described as a “male” dancer” and as a “male” stripper? We never hear a man described as a “male doctor” or “male singer” and we don’t even hear a woman described as a “female doctor” or a “female” anything, anymore. Nobody who hears that he was a “dancer” or a “stripper” is going to be left wondering what sex he was when he was doing it.

Because most will go see a doctor or listen to a singer but, I won’t go see a female stripper. On the other hand I most likely would go see a male stripper. It is because the opposite can and most likely is offensive to most.

He can strip for me any day! I won’t talk about it, I’ll just sit and watch.
