Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman splitting

By Tribute on October 9, 2012 | 4 Comments

A representative for actor Danny Devito made a shocking announcement yesterday, saying that DeVito, 67, and his wife Rhea Perlman, 64, are separating after 30 years of marriage. This long-time Hollywood duo met in 1970 after Perlman attended a performance of The Shrinking Bride, a play DeVito was performing in at the time. Reportedly, the couple hit it off so well that they moved in together only two weeks later. Rhea went on to play DeVito’s girlfriend on the popular TV sitcom Taxi and after dating for 11 years, the actors finally got hitched in 1982, close to the time Taxi ended. Perlman then played sassy waitress Carla Tortelli on the NBC sitcom Cheers, which received a record-breaking 117 Emmy nominations, winning 28 awards and claiming six Golden Globe wins as well. Perlman won four Emmy awards for the role. With a career spanning 40 years, DeVito is revered for his captivating performances, such as the Penguin/Oswald Cobblepot in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns, or more recently his voice work in the 3D animated film Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. Devito and Perlman have three kids and are the founders of the film and TV production company, Jersey Films. ~Brandon Bastaldo

on a side note: Truly that’s too bad. But really by any standard (except the bible), that’s a VERY VERY long relationship and kudo’s for lasting that long.

Devito fame has hit an all time low so we now see the “True Colors” of Perlman. Sad but unmistakably true :(. Haha man seriously anyone know why a 30yr relationship has gone to shit?
