Debbie ReynoldsDebbie Reynolds December 2015, the mother of Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher, has been rushed to hospital. Reynolds, 84, was at her son Todd’s home on Coldwater Canyon Drive in Beverly Hills discussing funeral plans for Carrie when she began having trouble breathing. A 911 call was made from the home just after 1 p.m. local Los Angeles time.

The Los Angeles Fire Department was the first to arrive, and according to the Los Angeles Times, LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart verified an “adult female” was in “fair to serious condition.” Reynolds was transported to Cedars-Sinai Hospital. Her condition is currently unknown.

An Oscar nominee, Reynolds was a top star in Hollywood during the 1950s and 1960s, appearing in hit movies such as Singin’ in the Rain  (1952) alongside Gene Kelly and in Tammy and the Bachelor (1957), playing the lovable Tammy. She was unforgettable in the title role of the hit musical The Unsinkable Molly Brown, about a plucky young woman who rose from poverty to become a wealthy woman who was on the Titanic when it hit an iceberg. Reynolds received an Oscar nomination for her outstanding work in the movie and at the 2016 Academy Awards, received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.

Her two children, Carrie and Todd, are from her marriage to singer Eddie Fisher. Carrie passed away yesterday at the age of 60 after suffering a heart attack on board a plane on Dec. 23rd. Earlier today, Carrie and Todd’s half-sister, Joely Fisher, whose mother is actress Connie Stevens, tweeted “God speed Mama,” including a photo of herself with Reynolds.

Just hours earlier, before his mother went into medical distress, Todd had tweeted: “My sister has graduated to heaven, but she has left us all with so much of her, It is a very sad time for my family and all her friends.”

Todd has not yet spoken to media about his mother’s condition. ~Alexandra Heilbron

This is terrible news. I can’t imagine how hard it is to lose a daughter and have to plan her funeral. I hope she pulls through. What a devastating time for her son.
