Despicable Me 2 do-minion-ates the weekend box office

The sequel Despicable Me 2 came back with all the beloved characters from the first one, including the minions, and stole the box office, earning $84.52 million, while last week’s other new release, The Lone Ranger, earned only $29.43 million and received a 3.7 star rating from Tribute.ca viewers. Despicable Me 2 earned 4.6 out of 5 stars at Tribute.ca. Last week’s top movie, Monsters University, (4.1 stars) dropped three spots to fourth place with an additional $19.6 million, while the comedy The Heat dropped only one spot to third, taking in $25 million and 4.2 stars at Tribute.ca. In fifth place was Brad Pitt‘s zombie film, World War Z, dropping two spots from third. Rounding out the top ten: White House Down, Man of Steel, Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain, This is the End and Now You See Me.
