Director Boll handles criticism badly

Uwe BollGerman director Uwe Boll (In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale) is the subject of an online petition aimed to stop him from making any more movies. Boll had initially responded in jest, saying if the petition reached one million signatures he would retire. But now Boll is singing a different tune as the amount of signatures has quickly skyrocketed to over 150,000. “I want that there’s a petition also out there—like a pro-Boll petition. And I expect a million votes pro-Boll,” he stated in a recently posted video. (Ja Vol, Herr Boll!) Late in the video, Boll claims he is the only genius in the film industry and scrutinizes the careers of George Clooney, Hostel director Eli Roth and powerhouse filmmaker Michael Bay (Transformers). This isn’t the first time Boll has attacked his critics. In 2006 the filmmaker fought various film critics in a boxing match, so that he could pay them back for trashing his films in their reviews.

Just because you’re a Doctor does not make you a genius. It makes you a person with enough money and enough free time to spare to study/write. Just because you’re mad, does not make you a genius. But Uwe Boll is one thing, insane to believe there is a million people out their that want him to make movies.

This smells like a publicity stunt. He’s got Postal coming out soon, so he’s probably just stirring things up. My guess is that he started the petition himself.

Owe Boll easily makes the worst films right now. The problem with him is that he thinks that every stupid video game out there would be perfect for a film.

    He needs to be stopped.

I agree that he makes some bad films, but I disagree that it’s because he thinks all video games should be movies. IMHO, Dungeon Siege was his best movie, so far. The fact that I was skeptical from the beginning, and STILL being able to enjoy it for the most part says that he does have the potential to start making good movies. Boll’s problem is that his movies either fail to remain focussed on the story, or he forgets about the important aspect of films called ‘character development’. Dungeons Siege did have some character development which is what made it enjoyable, and he managed to remain focussed on the plot up until about 3/4 of the way through when you could tell where he started to lose it and completely failed with the so-called ‘ending’. Even the special effects started to suffer badly and were VERY cheezey at the end. He just needs to stay in the same frame of mind about his movies ALL THE WAY THROUGH.

Look, I have worked on a couple of Uwe’s Movies …. Dungeon Seige and Postal, and played a couple characters. Yes, Uwe does not put a fine product on the screen … not even Wal Mart would touch it. And I believe he can’t direct himself outta a paper bag, but nonetheless, he is entitled to his own opinion. Basing his career on controversy is no big news, …. just look at Hollywood, that’s what it does. It just so happen’s that Uwe’s films are low-rate junk, but that’s ok. I am glad to have had the experience of working on his film’s .. but hey, Uwe have some better catering for the background actor’s …. because we’re not just wallpaper. If you fed us as well as your dogs, we would work even harder! But good luck.
