Eddie Murphy plans Beverly Hills Cop TV show

Eddie Murphy Eddie Murphy is in talks to make a Beverly Hills Cop TV show. One of the comedian and actor's best-loved roles was as wise cracking detective Axel Foley in the three action/comedy films of the late 80s and he's working on bringing him back. He told Rolling Stone magazine: "What I'm trying to do with Beverly Hills Cop now is produce a TV show starring Axel Foley's son, and Axel is the chief of police now in Detroit. I'd do the pilot, show up here and there." He also said he thinks the show - which he is working on with Shawn Ryan, creator of The Shield and Sony Pictures Television - will work better on TV and that he never thought the scripts for the three movies in the series, released between 1984 and 1994, were right. He added: "None of the movie scripts were right; it was trying to force this premise. If you have to force something, you shouldn't be doing it. It was always a rehash of the old thing. It was always wrong." Eddie, 51, also said there will not be a Beverly Hills Cop IV movie, and he has had enough of making sequels. Speaking of his latest film, Tower Heist, he added: "Even if this heist movie is a smash, why do a sequel? Why go back and try to rehash this story? I'm some kind of sequel champion, I did more sequels than anybody. I did my share of sequels for now, anyways."

Exactly but isn’t a TV show a sequel but only on TV??? It’s the same character still a police officer who moved up in rank..It may be about his son, but it’s still following up on the story arc.

Gotta love how these belated follow-ups always wind up about the son of the original’s central character…

Ok….? I still think sequels are great and almost every good story out there in action/fantasy/sci-fi could use a trilogy. So I’m sad to hear he’s not doing a fourth installment, to be honest what else is he really doing he must be affraid of people type casting him. What ever it’s to bad cuz Eddie is an amazing funny guy and a great boxer he should do some action. Maybe expendables 3 hahaha!! Seriously 🙂
