Elizabeth Banks to direct Pitch Perfect 2

Everyone’s favorite comedy musical is set to return to the big screen with a sequel, and who could possibly be better to direct the film than Elizabeth Banks? According to Universal Picture chairman Donna Langley, the actress was “instrumental in making the first film such a huge success.” Variety reported that the Hunger Games actress, who also produced and co-starred in the first Pitch Perfect, is set to make her directorial debut on the sequel. Donna Langley explained to Variety why Universal chose Elizabeth for the director’s seat: “She brings an enormous amount of energy and experience to everything she works on and we’re thrilled that she is making her feature directorial debut on ‘Pitch Perfect 2.'” The Hollywood Reporter announced that Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson would also be returning, and Pitch screenwriter Kay Cannon would be writing the sequel.
