Emma Watson photo threat a hoax

Soon after Emma Watson earned positive attention with her powerful UN speech about feminism, a website called “EmmaYouAreNext.com” was being promoted on social media and through a thread on the popular 4chan website, which made national headlines for posting nude photos of female celebrities. EmmaYouAreNext.com had a clock counting down to the moment they would launch the Harry Potter star’s private photos. What the internet assumed would be yet another slew of illegally obtained nude photos actually turned out to be a viral marketing stunt. When the clock counted down, it was redirected to rantic.com, the website of a marketing company called Rantic Marketing. The site had a statement that read: “The recent 4chan celebrity nude leaks in past 2 months have been an invasion of privacy and is also clear indication that the internet NEEDS to be censored.”
Emma’s fans and admirers have widely criticized the stunt for attempting to overshadow Emma’s gender equality movement, HeForShe. Critics say the stunt does, however, bring attention to the fact that illegally obtain photos of Emma are not outside the realm of possibility and highlights the dangers women face on the internet every day.
Emma has yet to comment on the hoax, but continues to promote the HeForShe movement on her Twitter page. ~Kelly Townsend

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in Concert was a magical experience, thanks to The Sony Centre for the Performing Arts and Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
These young women would NOT be having these problems if they did not have naked pics of themselves that can be stolen. WHAT is with these women….is taking ‘nude selfies’ an ego trip or just plain stupidity. Hard to feel sorry for them….don’t pose naked and you won’t be embarrassed by some bully. I did not care either for her speech….it’s all been said before Emma, by women more mature and experienced than you and…not much has changed. I get sick of these ‘celebrities’ thinking they have the answers to everything and shoving their opinions in our faces. We have our own opinions, don’t need yours. They should act or sing and keep their opinions to themselves. Time people recognized the real valuable people in our society instead of these people.
Sounds like you’re angry you’re old and that no one wants to see your naked pics. Everyone has the right to take whatever kind of personal pics they want. No one has the right to post them for the world to see. And for someone so concerned about celebs “shoving their opinions in our faces” that’s exactly what you’re doing right now. So what gives a nobody like you that right, but not these celebs that right? Sounds hypocritical if you ask me. They are using their well known status to better the world, instead of you bettering the world you’re on here being a troll.
Feel better expressing your wrong opinion? Good, people dont listen to nobody.. they listen to people they respect at that time. Are you so afraid that these celebrities are so influential and persuasive that people will accept what comes out of their mouths? They mimic them thats all. If anything you should point out that people love to follow like sheep. Who are really these valuable people in our society anyway, I dont see them anywhere.
I hardly think it sounds like she’s angry no one wants to see her naked pics, Mandee. Do you think Emma wants people to see her naked pics? Why are all these bubble heads angry that their pics went public if they want people to see them?
Nothing wrong with having old news renewed by someone that young folks look up to. Yes, it’s all been said before but from a young person’s perspective – who the heck cares about what some old folks had to say or thought about it so many years ago – and yes, we might not be old but to them we are. We accomplished a lot in our day but women aren’t done yet. There’s still a long way to go with being equally paid for the same jobs our male counterparts do, and with promotions, etc, etc. Our message needs to be renewed with each generation as people have a tendency to forget that old issues are still very important and always have room for improvement.
Keep in mind, too, that these organizations seek out spokespeople to be their “face” so as to reach more people. Remember Diana, Princess of Wales, speaking out for the banning of land mines? Many more people heard the message because she fronted it than would have listened if it had been some old general of which they had never heard.
Hey let me take some nude pics of myself. Upload them to a cloud service because I can’t tell my head from my asshole when it comes to computer technology, even though I’m a millenial like most of my fans and hope that there will be no blowback.
Sorry, I have no sympathy for these celebs. They should have known better and in a case like this, that type of phrase counts because you CANNOT compare this to rape. This is not like someone trying to extort them, they willingly took these pics and practically handed off the key to everyone. How else would they obtain those type of photos if they didn’t use a cloud server?
What, use a botnet to take control of a computer? The odds of that happening vs. stumbling on a cloud file storage network are low.
So, these celebs have no case. And this goes for anyone who takes nudes of themselves. You’re dumb. You will get caught.
Taking nude photos of yourself invites problems, knowing full well that hacking is a national pass-time…especially if you have paps lining up to make money out of celebrity indiscretions.
Even worse, thanks to the “Nudie Narcissism” craze, teens and even pre-teens are jumping on this idiotic bandwagon with horrendous results. Last year two girls were shamed and taunted into committing suicide after their phone pics were shared on social media.
If you want real ugly, a whole grade six class had their phones confiscated thanks to sharing nude genital photos during class time. These are our “bright stars” of tomorrow all thanks to self-absorbed so-called celebrities who end up being the worst of role models.
If you REALLY can’t go a day without pics of your private parts, then for heaven’s sakes go old school, buy an Instamatic and keep the mementos under your mattress.

I pay celebrities through my $15 movie ticket to amuse me, not spew flavour of the day political correctness. Just shhhhhh! I can think for myself.

I think if people are stupid enough to take digital naked selfies, then don’t complain when the pics ended on some internet sites as there is no safe place to store them electronically. Beside, old or young; pretty or ugly, I don’t realy need to see other’s naked pictures anyways.
Since I have a life and job I can’t be in here constantly to defend myself. I didn’t say anyone wanted to see Emma naked, it’s no ones business who wants to put their naked pics on their computer. That being said, why is it up to us to judge people and tell them they shouldn’t be doing something? Those of you who “feel no sympathy” would be singing a different tune if it were you or your family members. Let’s make this very clear, the reason these people are so in demand are because of all of us. WE choose to make them famous by watching their movies, their shows, listening to their music, reading the articles that have them mentioned… So before you bitch about them being famous, why don’t you consider the fact that you’re taking the time to read and comment, meaning you’re contributing to them being famous. Have a problem with celebs? Find a different source of entertainment, sell your tv amd computer, don’t read magazines, get a life and live it..
