Ethan HawkeEthan Hawke‘s daughter is set to join the family business.

The actor and his wife Ryan Shawhughes believe Maya, 17, Ethan’s daughter with ex-wife Uma Thurman will follow her parents into acting.

Ryan said: ”That’s definitely a possibility, she’s a talented girl.”

Ethan added: ”I’ll go along with that yeah. When they’re little you have this idea that you can control them. You can’t.”

Ethan also revealed that he is careful about what roles he takes on to ensure that he doesn’t spend too much time away from his family.

He explained to the Sunday Times magazine: ”These days you have to do a lot of movies to make a living, they pay you less for each other. The upside is that to keep the pay down, they make the shoots shorter. My deal is I can go on location with the kids when they’re on school break or I fly home every weekend. The best thing is doing things together with Ryan and the kids. We trained for a marathon together in a dozen different cities where I was working, we did a book together, all of us, and most of all, we’re raising these kids together.”
