First look at The Hunger Games at the VMAs

By Alexandra Heilbron on August 26, 2011 | 8 Comments

Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards featured this first glimpse at the upcoming movie The Hunger Games, introduced by Jennifer Lawrence, who stars as Katniss Everdeen in the film. The movie is based on the book by Suzanne Collins and takes place in a future society in which the government makes it difficult for people to find enough to eat. Each year 24 children between 12 and 18 are forced to participate in The Hunger Games, a televised event that gives them no choice but to kill each other to survive. The sole winner at the end is rewarded by getting ample food for his or her family. The movie also stars Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson and opens March 23, 2012.

Next thing they’ll think up next is kindergarden aged children slaughtering each other. Then its only babies left!! I Thank GOD that babies can’t and won’t ever have the will to pretend something like that in a movie!!

Rita, your comment is unwitty and dull. It is based on a book (like just about every other movie out there) showcasing what humans are capable of doing to one another. Kids are no exception to that, history has shown it. As it was in the past it still is now, for purely entertainment of the spectators! But also away to make use think of the possibilitys of Humanities down fall.

Sorry, I agree with Rita and I think “heck”, you should stop judging people who disagree with you. Everyone’s entitled to an opinion, believe it or not. I read the book, hated it and do not want to see it acted onscreen. It’s twisted and sick and not even slightly entertaining.

I agree with Rita and Deb. How far are they going to go, what will be the limit of this craziness.

If you only ever look at the content and not the story, your going to miss out on a lot in life. Yeah the content may be controversial, but the story is a great one.
