Fox refuses to reshoot controversial Seth MacFarlane pilot Dads

Despite the Media Action Network for Asian Americans’ request to re-shoot the controversial pilot for Seth MacFarlane‘s Dads, Fox has refused to comply with their request. The pilot has come under fire over content that the group claims to promotes “racial and sexual stereotypes.” In one particular scene, two men – played by Seth Green and Giovanni Ribisi – get a female Asian character played by former Disney Channel star Brenda Song to dress up in a provocative school girl outfit and giggle flirtatiously to satisfy Chinese businessmen. In other scenes, Martin Mull Mull’s character calls Asians “Orientals” and jokes about drug use when referring to the city of Shanghai.

In response to the group’s disdain, Fox entertainment chairman Kevil Reilly and COO Joe Earley wrote a letter to defend the show’s sense of humor. “You will see that Brenda Song’s character is a strong, intelligent, empowered young woman who basically runs the company, and who almost always gets the upper hand on the guys,” wrote Reilly and Earley. “This is a show that will be evocative and will poke fun at stereotypes and bigotries — sometimes through over-the-top, ridiculous situations.” ~Alfonso Espina

A lot of issues take place because people don’t know the whole picture. Super sensitive now days. Tehre are a ton of stereotypes from all ethnic groups out there..I’m sure Seth Macfarlane will exploit them all. Don’t worry Asian folks, we will all get our turn.

What is wrong with these Asians? Good on Fox for ignoring ur nonsensical request for a re-shoot! With the rise of China ( which benefited from raiding US technology and silly US companies investing there for cheap labor) these folks really think they own the world. Like shut up already. No matter what you do you wont be white Ok. Money power, eyelid surgery, bleaching cream, hiding from the sun, booty botox or whatever will still just make you yellows trying to be white. And I am so tired of their whinging! I mean it was sooooo mush better when Asian folk worked hard studied hard and just knew to go about their business and be quite. Now they are forever complaining about something, demanding this or that, I mean you would think Asians are Black they way they always mouthing off now. We already have to one group being ultra vocal already please not another. At least we can tolerate it from blacks I guess since they were dragged over here against their will from the start so they are Americans, but Asians u are not American and you came here to escape the hell holes u were living in before. So please shut up or ship out!

I would bet Gus wants to date an asian but they all keep telling him he’s white trash.

Folks don’t forget, these TV shows are geared towards an unenlightened US audience, much like our monobrow friend Gus. The US is generally behind the rest of the civilized world when it comes to what is socially acceptable.

Gus is no doubt living in a trailer park probably scrounging for his dinner in the local trash cans behind any diner he can find, keep up the good work and perhaps you can score with a bag lady one day.

I have more issues with the fact that Gus can’t spell most of his insults correctly, let alone the fact that he’s spewing them. Clearly he is trying to get attention and reactions from his response. Congrats Gus! P.S perhaps try a dictionary, I hear they are quite helpful. My six year old is learning to use one too!
