Fur protesters crash Amy Schumer book signing

Poor Amy Schumer.
The 35-year-old Trainwreck star was signing copies of her memoir The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo at a New York City Barnes & Noble, when a group of animal rights activists began berating her for wearing a Canada Goose parka.
Amy tried to explain herself, but the protesters didn’t calm down. They were ejected by security and the book signing carried on.
As it turns out, the parka was gifted to Amy, and when she wore it, paparazzi snapped candid photos of her, which outraged animal rights activists. Amy says she stopped wearing it after hearing the animal abuse allegations against Canada Goose.
PETA and other animal rights organizations have gotten criticism for the extreme lengths they have gone to in the name of animal rights.

Whatever, people are quick to criticize and take offense. She should have known she’d encounter this kind of response, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a justified response.

I think these groups are right to stand up for animal rights. In the case of Canada goose clothing an animal was killed solely for their fur or geese suffered from people ripping out Their down. If people would stop being so selfish these animals would not suffer anymore. No one needs to wear animal fur or use down, there are plenty of alternatives
Wow! It is sad that people are still actively protesting for animal issues this should be a thing of the past. It’s awesome that a group did make the effort and even better that Amy Schumer was already in agreement. Yay AMY! As a result everyone is on the same page! The animal rights activists and Amy Schumer received MORE coverage as a result. I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t pre-arranged by a PR company as it feels like the issue doesn’t get as much exposure as it should. I look at people wearing the Canada Goose coats and think how awful BUT than I think maybe they don’t know rather then don’t care. Either way the more exposure the better – it’s not COOL to be CRUEL!
Bottom line , just dont’ wear fur.
Why is protesting for animal issues a thing of the past? Still important issues.
Having lived in areas of remote northern Canada, I have to say animal furs are the best option for staying warm. I know nothing about Amy Schumer but if the protesters were in the cold wilds of the world they might just be reaching for an animal skin. I have not checked on Canada Goose as company but I believe the feathers are the key part. I would assume the goose itself would have been used as food. So Evelyn you would be incorrect in saying they use goose for their skin. I am not a hunter but I know many responsible hunters and enjoyed their harvest.
I try to be a responsible consumer, but I certainly do not “research” every company before I buy their product. I’m pretty sure most people don’t. Once people become aware of issues with a company, then continue to endorse the company by wearing their product, then possibly there may be an issue. NO ONE, not even so called protesters have the right to ASSUME they know what information celebrities have. The protesters should have inquired politely if Schumer was aware of the issues rather than just violently confront her over it. From my understanding Ms. Schumer was not even wearing the “offending article of clothing” at the time of the confrontation, but had merely been photographed wearing it on some previous occassion. This smack to me of attention grabbing protesters who want to see their names or the cause name given press. It certainly casts a poor light on the “cause” they are supposedly supporting. I live in Canada, and I have NEVER heard of a goose being plucked while alive, it is ridiculous to think that they could be….geese are large strong birds and are often kept as guard birds by farmers because they are large, aggressive and strong. Who the heck is doing the fact checking on this bull anyway?

and beating up people and berating them for there “Human privilege”
while at the same time chanting “Animal Lives Matter!”
They should have totally and completely took the store hostage
and anyone who dare challenge them would be labelled a “speciesist”
Never liked this woman.
There are SO many people out there that wear fur, famous or not.
So some paparazzi got some photos of her wearing a Canada Goose jacket once maybe twice, and THAT’S why animal rights groups have to show up at her book signing? Kind of obnoxious. Do they really have to rain on people’s parade for their cause? There are more humane ways of approaching someone about it. And worst of all, a couple of photos don’t tell the whole story. Why ambush someone when they’re putting on an event completely unrelated to what you’re trying to shove down their throat?
These sorts of actions just make “animal activists” look unintelligent and not truthful.
I doubt that they have properly researched their claims about ducks being plucked alive (how do they know that they are still alive) since it is more headline grabbing to make unsupported claims and then hope that they get spread on the internet.
People who crash private property such as a mall, deserve to get ejected or arrested.
Even though I am a vegetarian, I have no sympathy for those attention-seeking idiots.
I find it interesting that animal rights activists are so vehement when it comes to ladies wearing fur coats or fur parkas. I’d like to see the lot of them stand up against biker gangs for wearing leather jackets.

Wearing a parka in the middle of summer – insane. But if it is the current fad … then it’s a completely different gaggle of geese.
Everyone should boycott that brand.
