George Clooney, Brad Pitt team for gay rights

By Alexandra Heilbron on March 12, 2012 | 2 Comments

George Clooney and Brad Pitt teamed up with other A-list actors to help raise over $2 million for the American Foundation for Equal Rights. The actors performed a live, condensed reenactment of the Proposition 8 trial. Dustin Lance Black’s play 8 was first performed last September, but on March 3, the stars came out to raise awareness with a modified version. Over 200,000 viewers streamed the play live and the video currently has over 500,000 views on YouTube. In reference to the issue of gay marriages, Clooney told The Hollywood Reporter, “At some point people are going to look back and wonder why this was ever an issue.” The play also included Glee’s Chris Colfer, Matthew Morrison and Jane Lynch, Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson plus Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Bacon and many more. ~Renita Naraine

I think Howard Stern on the subject of gay marriage said it best,”a society cannot progress untl it allows equal rights for all of it’s citizens”.Like him and the gentlemen above i proudly count myself as one of the growing number of heterosexual men who fully support the rights of our gay friends and neighbours.

Sadly, sexual orientation is considered to be religiously governed territory by many.

I think of it as love. Why should anyone have the power to say you are/aren’t socially accepted based on the person you love? No one should…right?

Then they bring up pedophiles, man-boy love associations, beastiality – opponents would say these are based on love. Plural marriages…them too.

As long as there is diversive religious belief, and until our Creator comes down to Earth and writes it all down in first person (no middle men alterning the story over 1000 years), in clear and simple language devoid of personal interpretation, that you do this and ascend to paradise or do this and suffer infinite doom – this will go on and on and on and on – or at least every re-election of lawmakers.

Or Dec 2012 – what ever comes sooner 🙂
