George Lucas predicts end of world

By Alexandra Heilbron on January 20, 2011 | 31 Comments

Green Hornet star Seth Rogen says that during a recent meeting with George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, Lucas talked non-stop about how the world will end next year.

Rogen was quoted by the Toronto Sun as saying: “George Lucas sits down and seriously proceeds to talk for around 25 minutes about how he thinks the world is gonna end in the year 2012. Like, for real. He thinks it. He’s going on about the tectonic plates and all the time Spielberg is, like, rolling his eyes, like, ‘My nerdy friend won’t shut up, I’m sorry.'”

Lucas’ daughter Katie explained her father’s comments on Twitter, tweeting: “Regarding my pops thinking the world is going to end in 2012: I have no idea if the conversation actually happened. But he would TOTALLY say that. As a joke, obviously. Geez people, it’s funny. Get over it!”

If Lucas does believe the world will end in 2012, he’s not the only one. Ashton Kutcher recently told Men’s Fitness magazine he’s keeping in shape because he believes there’s going to be an apocalypse in which the population will panic and food supplies will be cut off, while Dan Aykroyd told the Las Vegas ReviewJournal last year: “It won’t be the end of the world physically as we know it. But it will be the end of consciousness and the end of perception as we know it.”

The Jehovah Witnesses have been predicting the end of the world for years and years also it has been proven that the Mayan calendar is coming to an end NOT the planet Earth. The calendar was developed generations ago and it was to continue but the people were lost to us before this could be done. A loss to all humanity, their passing.

    I’m with Sam. 😉

I think Dan Aykroyd is the one who’s right from all three of them…smart man! 😉

Well all I have to say is I hope we all get our lives in order with God, and then if it does end we will not die but go to be with God, Jesus and the holy Spirit. And if it doesn’t end I hope through this fear that man find Christ Jesus and turn their hearts back to their creator God. Find happiness in God

There is a huge body of information available, if one chooses greater understanding around 2012. World schlors, physicists, astronomers, quantum physicists etc. are all providing their take on what it means; from a physical reality point of view, our sun will be at the exact centre of our universe, this is what the Mayans were able to pinpoint and astronomers confirm this. This has not occurred, i think for 26,000 yrs, will there be geographic catastrophies ? many believe we’re already experiencing them. Energetically, well we are to move to another dimension of experiencing life. It is the end of an era, the end of the Piscean Age, the beginning of Aquarius… simply we will move towards becoming more loving and compassionate (heart chakra) world, and away from greed, profiteering, and self centered interest (solar plexus chakra)… the “Golden Age” begins, the veil of duality shifts, we are able to glimpse our souls essence and experience living from that place. Are you ready? I’m preparing (obviously), perhaps our parallel universes will provide for both; those who are ready, and those who wish to remain in 3D reality. George Lucas 25 minutes…. ahhh we could go on and on.

I agree with Germain. This reminds me of Y2K, which was also absurd.

  9. The General • January 20, 2011 @ 4:49 PM

I agree with June. The only thing we should be concerned with is making sure that we have an unwavering belief in God and to spread the Good News that Jesus Christ came and died to take away ours sins. It doesn’t matter if it ends today,in 2012 or hundreds of years from now but change your way now and don’t worry when it’s going to end. All we have to do is believe in Him (Jesus Christ) and ask that our sins may be forgiven. There is nothing that we can do to “earn” our way into Heaven. Simply being nice, doing good deeds or do more good than bad isn’t going to cut it to earn a place in Heaven. We are not perfect but Jesus was and through His death we will live forever with God in Heaven.

Suzanne, you have stated it so well. The belief of many of us is that at the end of this cycle of the Mayan calender there will be a major shift in our world and the way in which humanity choose to live. Our hope is by that time we will have enough people believing that humanity cannot continue on the path we have walked almost since our beginning, that of war, hatred, jealousy and a singular existance which up to this point has had us wallowing at a very low level of spiritual function, and that we will choose to live in harmony instead. It is my hope that the movement of love and peace that began in the 60’s will finally become a way of life for all of us where we respect each other, cease to war with our neighbours and put all of that effort into making this world as beautiful as it should and can be.

Now, I dont know about other people, but everytime MY calender ends I don’t have a freak attack….

WOW… Really?? Our Sun will be at the exact center of our universe? If the Universe is expanding, Which as been Proved to be true. How Could our solar system which is also expanding, Make a U turn, and head back to the starting point of all matter?? Did our Solar System remember to signal the U turn, don’t wanna cut off any of the other billions of galaxies. Don’t wanna cause and interstellar traffic jam. You are right about one thing though, there is a huge body of information available(it’s incorrect) but available.

Like Germain said its Y2K all over again but if something does happen. Which I have my doubts. Than this will all be just a nice memory.

It will be funny if its only just seeing the stars from a different angle next year.

  19. Zippy deBrain • January 21, 2011 @ 9:01 PM

Well at least the Y2K Hysteria was rooted in some measure on an actual problem. (A lot of computer systems had the 19 hard coded. Of course an elevator doesn’t stop working because it suddenly thinks its 1900, but for some systems it was a potential bug.)

But it was blown WAY out of proportion.

The Mayan Calendar lines up once every 3000 years (or whatever) when everything they were tracking lines up and then it STARTS OVER AGAIN.

Some people need to get a grip.

It is like freaking out at the end of each year because you haven’t gotten the new calendar.

Suzanne on January 20, 2011 3:10 PM i enjoyed this post immensely. how are YOU preparing?

Butterfly on January 21, 2011 11:19 AM i also enjoyed your comment as well, and as much as i wish we could find a world thats full of love and acceptance, i really doubt that will ever happen because too many people are narrowminded and set in their discriminatory ways, also there is a lot of psychopaths out there!

i wish i had more to say on this topic, but i dont really have an opinion nor do i know much about any of this.

  21. C-Dub • January 22, 2011 @ 1:49 PM

OMG this was great to read. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and before we all get nekked and put on sandwich boards reading ‘The end is nigh’, the only way the world is most likely to end is by human hands only. The first person to press the button and start a nuclear war will be playing ‘God’ and end our existance. Otherwise let’s enjoy our sports and our lives and wives etc…

Predictions are wrong all the time. And FYI nobody actually reads Mayan anymore, we try and interpret! So hmmm, they may not exist any longer as a race, but it doesn’t mean what they were writing is gospel. Take everything with a grain of salt people.

  22. Jackie • January 23, 2011 @ 1:47 AM

The Aztec calendar was just as accurate at predictions as the Mayan Calendar, probably moreso. That calendar ended on August 16, 1986, and nothing happened. The calendar predicted the beginning of the 6th world-the world of the sixth sense, heightened awareness, more spirituality, etc. No apocalypse or devestation. Just another growth transition of humankind. I doubt highly if the Mayan calendar is being fatalistic.

  23. Yoda • January 23, 2011 @ 12:08 PM

At midnight today will end…it will!

  24. The Guy • January 23, 2011 @ 2:59 PM

I say everyone is just full of crap. Every few years someone comes up with some wacky story which sounds legit and they say the world is going to end. BS. Just because most sources point to this date, doesn’t make it legit. So repent and save your souls as our future depends on it. I don’t know about you all, but at least when I get finished masturbating, I’m gonna have a little something to show for it, folks.

  25. Jo-Anne • January 23, 2011 @ 4:44 PM

    well….time will tell….

  26. kgh10 • January 24, 2011 @ 3:50 PM

Predictions?! Recently, what happen to the year 2000 disaster prediction? Had it been happened?? The only disaster to our beautyfull world is from ourself-the human-beings. Who ever push the button of the destination of a neuclear bomb will certainly put the end of our beautyfull world.I just hopefully all (the whole world)powerful country(s)sit down and reach to a real real World Peace Solution so that we can and able to explore the out space. World Peace.

  30. Jessica • January 26, 2011 @ 4:17 AM

I think that whatever you believe is going to happen will happen. The world is constantly changing that is certain but so our we. The more you focus on the future the more your not living today and you will have spent the next year and a bit wondering and worrying what will happen in 2012? There are no guarantees of what’s to come but any situation that arises we do it together.

Think “birth pangs!” And, beware of offers to go into the tunnels. Could be those who go into the earth may be locked up for a 1,000 years!
