Gerard Butler in rehab

By Tribute on February 24, 2012 | 10 Comments

Gerard Butler checked into the Betty Ford Center in California to get help for his growing dependence on prescription drugs, according to TMZ. The problem apparently started back in 2006 after the actor finished shooting 300, in which he played the physically-demanding role of King Leonidas. “There was definitely a period of adjustment and physical pain because I stopped training. That was the worst thing I could have done,” he later said in an interview. His struggle with pain worsened after a horrific surfing accident late last year while filming a scene for his upcoming movie Of Men and Mavericks — Butler was thrown off his surfboard and held underwater by massive waves and then pummelled on the head by more water after finally surfacing. Although he recovered, his reliance on pain medication grew so he decided to check himself in before it turned into a full-blown addiction. TMZ is reporting that Butler has been at the clinic for the past three weeks and is planning to check out later today.

Geez, he went surfing, found himself under water and then another wave bopped him on the head? One excuse to ride high on drugs is as good as another I guess. How many waves did he ride when he was drinking too much? He needs to get both sides of his mouth talking together when he speaks.

“Whatever you do, don’t put the blame on you.
    Blame. It. On. The. Wave…yeah!”

I heard it takes a good, long while for the dependency on Viagra to slowly come off. I heard that… not personal experience *looks side to side*
