Glee star Chris Colfer to publish two books

Glee star Chris Colfer will publish two books with Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. Written for 8 to 12 year old readers, The Land of Stories will simultaneously be released in hardcover and e-book in the summer of 2012, and will be followed by a second untitled novel. A fast-paced adventure that uniquely combines our modern day world with classic fairytales, The Land of Stories tells the tale of twins Alex and Conner Bailey. Through the mysterious powers of a book of stories, Alex and Conner leave their world behind and find themselves in a foreign land full of wonder and magic where they come face-to-face with the characters they grew up reading about. “When I was ten years old, I promised myself that if I ever had the opportunity to write this book, I would jump at the chance,” said Colfer. “This book has been at the core of my imagination for a long time and I’m excited and nervous to share it.” Chris, who won a Golden Globe for his role as “Kurt Hummel” on Glee, recently adapted a pilot for the Disney Channel called The Little Leftover Witch, based on a children’s book of the same name by Florence Laughlin. He will appear at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto this weekend as part of the Glee Live tour. Chris was also honored as a member of the 2011 TIME 100, Time Magazine’s annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. Colfer will next shoot the independent film Struck By Lightning, which he wrote and will produce.
