Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, maintained the top spot for the third consecutive weekend at the box office. The space thriller garnered an additional estimated $31.03 million, pushing the total gross earnings to a solid $170.57 million. The film received a Tribute rating of 3.2 stars. Holding on to second was Captain Phillips, starring Tom Hanks as the Maersk Alabama’s commanding officer, Captain Richard Phillips. The film earned $17.3 million and scored a high Tribute rating of 4.5 stars. Starring Chloë Grace Moretz, the new release Carrie, the remake of the 1976 horror film, debuted in third place with $17 million and a Tribute rating of 3.9 stars. Dropping one spot to fourth place was the animated flick, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. The sequel earned $10.1 million and a Tribute rating of 4 stars. Escape Plan debuted at fifth place in the box office with $9.8 million and a high Tribute rating of 4.6 stars. Rounding out the top ten were Prisoners, Enough Said, The Fifth Estate, Runner Runner and Insidious: Chapter 2. ~ Marriska Fernandes
