Hobbit movies get titles and release dates

Peter Jackson‘s Hobbit movies not only have titles, but they now have release dates. Currently being filmed back to back in digital 3D in New Zealand, the first one will be called The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and the sequel will be The Hobbit: There and Back Again. They’ll be released on December 14, 2012 and December 13, 2013. The films are prequels to The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Reprising their roles from the original movies are: Ian McKellen as Gandalf the Grey, Cate Blanchett as Galadriel; Orlando Bloom as Legolas; Ian Holm as the elder Bilbo; Christopher Lee as Saruman; Hugo Weaving as Elrond; Elijah Wood as Frodo; and Andy Serkis as Gollum. Martin Freeman will take on the central role of Bilbo Baggins.

Thousands of fans of comic books, anime, film, TV and cosplayers arrived in Toronto for the 2022 Fan Expo Canada convention, featuring Stranger Things stars!
This is great! I can’t wait to see these two films and the fact that the original actors are reprising their roles is a great sign. I can’t wait.
Am I the only one who found the LOTR trilogy to be unbelievably boring, with very bad pacing. These films made some of the Harry Potter installments look like CRANK. Not looking forward to these at all, though I might pick up the books.
I enjoyed LOTR especially the second one, the Golum duality was very well portrayed but the third one was a bit long but still good. The LOTR trilogy was , for me, enough though to go full circle. This is overkill to me and I can’t imagine the same success as LOTR had.

Personally I did find a lot of the LOTR trilogy boring. Like they barely made it 10 feet in the 2nd one. I swear they weren’t any closer to where they needed to be. But this is a prequel and I am glad that the original actors all signed on and decided to do this. I’ll probably watch it, mostly cause my girlfriend is a huge fan not because I want to go out of my way to watch.
I loved the triology, the last installment being my least favourite though. I amn really looking forward to this series of Hobbit tales!

I couldn’t disagree more. I think that J.R.R. Tolkien’s work needs to be remade into a full fledged series just like Harry Potter and others. The good news is that Tolkien’s work has an end as there were only a handful of novels written by him and one of them was finished by his son after his father passed.
