A sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is in the works. The film will have Michelle Yeoh reprising her role as Yu Shu Lien and Yuen Woo-Ping doing the fight choreography.  The movie is titled Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II – The Green Destiny and is set to film this year in New Zealand and China.

Other exciting production/casting news has The Great Gatsby director Baz Luhrmann set to take on a movie version of the 1970s TV series Kung Fu, which starred David Carradine as a Shaolin monk traveling through the Old West. Timur Bekmambetov, who helmed the Oscar-nominated Wanted is directing a remake of Ben-Hur, the historical epic that originally starred Charlton Heston. The 1959 film won 11 Academy Awards, including best director and best picture. Roma Downey and her husband Mark Burnett, who recently enjoyed a hit with the big screen Son of God, will produce the remake. It has a release date of February 28, 2016.

Tom Hanks will star in a Cold War drama as the lawyer who negotiated the release of CIA pilot Francis Gary Powers, who was shot down and captured after flying over Soviet Union airspace. Steven Spielberg is in talks to direct and if he signs on, it will be the fourth time Hanks and Spielberg have worked together. Erin Moriarty, best known for playing Audrey Hart in the TV series True Detective is set to star opposite Mel Gibson in Blood Father. Blood Father is about an ex-con (Gibson) who is protecting his daughter (Moriarty) from drug dealers. ~Dylan Paisley
