Hollywood-themed Sand Sculpture Festival

By Tribute on March 29, 2013 | 1 Comment

Twenty award-winning sculptors from across the globe have come together to the Weston-super-Mare beach in England as they participate in the 2013 Weston Sand Sculpture Festival. Using over 4000 tonnes of sand from Weston’s beach, Radovan Zivny and Helena Bangert are among the sculptors who are bringing Hollywood characters such as Gollum, King Kong, and characters from Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Pirates of the Caribbean to the town’s Hollywood-themed festival. In the past eight years, previous themes to take over the beach include Fairy Tales, The Continents of the World and Under the Ocean. The festival also incorporated last year’s first junior competition; the winner’s creation was a remote-controlled sand shark! The 2013 festival is due to open on Good Friday. Check out some of the awesome sculptures below. ~E.Guevarra
