The Arabian Horse Foundation, located in Dayton, Ohio, has set up a scholarship to honor Patrick Swayze, who died last September from pancreatic cancer. He and his wife, Lisa Niemi, owned Arabian horses and competed in shows for several years. The scholarship will be awarded each spring to a young person who is both involved with Arabian horses and who wants a performing arts career. Foundation president Larry Kinneer said the scholarship honors the couple’s “love of the Arabian breed and contributions over the years to AHA youth programs.” ~Alexandra Heilbron
