Jackman “heartbroken” about Wolverine leak

By Alexandra Heilbron on April 8, 2009 | 15 Comments

Hugh JackmanHugh Jackman is not happy that a premature copy of his new movie, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, was leaked on the Internet last week, a month before its intended launch. “It’s a serious crime and there’s no doubt it’s very disappointing – I was heartbroken by it,” Jackman said Wednesday. “Obviously people are seeing an unfinished film. It’s like a Ferrari without a paint job.” Jackman not only stars in the movie, but also produced it through his company Seed Productions. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is set for official release on May 1st and 20th Century Fox is scrambling to stop the eagerly-awaited movie from being spoiled. “The FBI are onto it and they’re taking it very, very seriously,” Jackman said. Motion Picture Association of America is also investigating the leak and promises to bring the offenders to trial. ~Meryl H. As seen in issue #393 of Movie Mail Newsletter.

with all the serious crap happening in our world today, I find this kind of “heartbreak” not very heartbreaking…

    Same here.

I agree Jo. I think he’s really heartbroken cause he’s not going to get that new paint job for his Ferrari!

I got a copy of this movie and it’s realy good, it’s pre CGI production, you can still see the flying wires, airbags they land on and before the CGI effects added(like glowing claws and proper blue screens, i’ve watched a little of it(dvd quality copy) but will wait to see it in theaters……..

    P.S> free Chris Brown

i agree that the whole FBI thing is a little overdramatic but still, if you’ve invested so much of your time, effort, money etc on something and all of sudden people are ripping it off your hands before you can even finish it, i can understand how someone could be heartbroken. i’m sad that he’s sad. he seems like such a nice man. and also he’s a good actor.

i don’t understand why people feel the need to destroy and jeopardize other peoples dreams. he must have worked very hard for this movie to be successful and by his comments i truly believe he did. i agree, it is heartbroken to see that his work was exposed this way. anyone that understands this even those that are behind it, wouldn’t like this to happen to them if one day something that they are passionate about is tampered with. nevertheless i’m confident that it will be very good once it’s released the way it should be. can’t wait to see it!

The role of wolverine made Jackman worlwide famous so I can understand that seeing an unfinished version of the upcoming new movie roaming around on the internet is heartbroking. If it was me I would be wolverine-like furious. And yes It is FBI matter because it’s no longer a matter of some jerk with an hidden camera filming a cheap version in a theater and posting it on the net but probably a member of the filming/production team who try to get more than is share of glory

I just wish those cheap hacks would grow up and grow some self-esteem and not having to spoil it for everyone while showing off and ‘proving’ how good they are and what they can do. It’s really sad to see that there are people out there no longer content to wait for the ‘real thing’ to premiere, enjoy the anticipation and the wait but giving those who STEAL prototypes and cheap copies the satisfaction and encouragement to do it again. That, to me, simply spells poor judgement and character.

I am waiting for the opening. It makes no sense to see it on a monitor screen. These kinds of movies have to be epic, full of thrills and action. And it just cheapins’ the experience other wise. I hope who ever leaked it gets what is coming to them.

I totally agree with j and D. Okay, so its not a tragedy like a hurricane or a fatal illness or something. But it IS another attempt by lazy, talentless losers to rip off other peoples hard work and I, for one, am sick of all the jerks who think they should get something for nothing. And to the guy who made fun of Hugh Jackman “just wanting a new paint job for his Ferrari”, what’s your problem? Are you mad at him just cause he’s rich? HE EARNED IT he didn’t steal it SO MORE POWER TO YOU HUGH!

sorry, Jo-Anne and tributegirl. I usally agree with your comments. But this issue really cheeses me off (as if you can’t tell!!!)

  12. tributegirl • April 10, 2009 @ 10:15 AM

No problem, lily, I can see both sides to this one actually, and yeah, I agree, it is rotten when people do these things. Just for me, I can easily think of a lot worse things. But since the FBI is on this case, hopefully justice will be served.

Regarding Max powers…your P.S. free Chris Brown…you make me sick..I guess you are agreeing with abusing women…He SHOULD be locked up in jail…And Rihanna should get counseling..

And Yes it is a legal matter people…The people that put it on the internet SHOULD be reprimanded.. And Mr.Jackman has every right to be upset over the matter.. And as far as we all know they could have exaggerated his words to make it seem more dramatic..Slightly out of content.

man even though theres a leaked copy on the internet this might still be the only movie i’m gonna watch in the theaters.

Those who’ve seen the movie and liked it should support it when it comes out in theatres. I know that i’d like to see this kind of action movie with lots of cgi on a large beautiful screen. Nothing beats the threatre experience. Looking forward to May 1st.
