I, Frankenstein leading this weekend’s new releases

This weekend will be a busy one at the box office, with several films opening in wide and limited release today. Aaron Eckhart‘s anticipated fantasy flick I, Frankenstein opens wide, also starring Bill Nighy and Miranda Otto. Set in a dystopian future, Dr. Frankenstein’s shocking creation is caught in a war between two groups of supernatural beings. Click here for an interview with the creature himself, Aaron Eckhart. Bérénice Bejo stars in The Past, a French drama about a man who must face his past when he returns to France to finalize his divorce after four years of separation. Opening in Toronto, The Past is full of secrets, heartbreak and complicated relationships. This drama also opens January 31 in Vancouver and Montreal and February 7 in Ottawa. Another Toronto release is The Selfish Giant, a film adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s story about two young boys who get involved with a local scrapdealer after being expelled from school. This British drama opens February 28 in Vancouver and Ottawa. Also opening in Toronto today is the Canadian indie Mourning Has Broken and sports documentary Linsanity.
