Ireland Baldwin in rehab for emotional trauma

Ireland Baldwin, 19, the daughter of  Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, has checked into a rehab facility in Malibu to get help for emotional trauma.

The model checked herself in to the Soba Recovery Center this past weekend and took to Twitter to explain, telling fans:

“I checked myself into Soba for two weeks to just get away for a little bit. I’m not much a party cat but I am here deal with some emotional trauma and getting the intensive therapy I needed in order to recover. Someday I’ll feel ready to share my story openly without feeling the way I do. Right now I just needed a breather. I needed a chance to work on myself and gather all the tools I need to overcome everything that I had been through and rid myself of all the pain I locked away in unreachable places.”

It has been a rough month so far for Ireland. A few weeks ago she was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles with severe stomach pains. It turned out to be appendicitis and she had to undergo emergency surgery. It was also revealed this week that Ireland recently broke up with her girlfriend, rapper Angel Haze.

Ireland is best known for the voice-mail left by her very angry father in 2007 that went viral, in which Alec called the then 11-year-old a “rude thoughtless pig.”  Alec apologized for message but had his visitation rights with his daughter suspended temporarily over the incident. ~Suzanne Coolen

   Well, since her father is an abusive, critical person who probably never showed her any affection, it’s not surprising she’s a lesbian. Also not surprising she has emotional trauma. Good job as a dad Alec! It sickens me that he has a very young child with another bimbo. And I’m calling her a bimbo because she knew what he did to Ireland and just went ahead and made him another kid.

   Seriously Andrea? her Dad’s behavior made her a Lesbian? Good Grief your an idiot. her Dad’s behavior made her suffer with emotional trauma… I hope it works for her and she feels strong afterwards.

   Her father’s treatment of her probably turned her off getting involved with a male or maybe she was involved with a male at one time and he was just like her father so she turned to the comfort of a woman. Whatever her sexual preference is, does not matter I just congratulate her on realizing she has issues and needs help. Keep Alec away from her.

   I’m not really surprised she’s having emotional problems. I am glad she’s realizing she needs help and is doing what she needs to do to follow a path of recovery and healing. It’s my humble opinion that her father’s rant is just a tip of the iceberg …. those two parents for whatever reasons were unable to put the emotional wellbeing of their daughter first. At the time I remember thinking the judge in the divorce courts should have removed Ireland from both parents and ordered them to battle it out between themselves without any further damage to their daughter.

   Hey Mack (and Jenny, yes 100% serious because I can’t ignore the facts any longer), the number of women who are lesbians who were involved with abusive males prior to becoming or “coming out” lesbian are numerous and well documented. Meredith Baxter for one if you want a famous face. Several whom I know personally, either had abusive husbands, fathers or were molested/raped by “foster fathers.”

   I’m glad that Ireland has the guts to admit that she needs help. She loves her mom & dad dearly. It’s not her parents fault. Thanks to Mack. A person doesn’t turn gay, they are born that way. Good luck Ireland. By the way, Alec loves his children & is a good dad.
