Jackie Chan admits he was ‘forced to marry’

Actor Jackie Chan says he felt forced to marry his current wife of 35 years, Taiwanese actress Joan Lin, after she got pregnant in 1982.
The 63-year-old martial artist’s shocking confession was made in a previous interview in 2015, which has since resurfaced.
Speaking candidly with the China Press, Jackie revealed the romance between he and Lin died “a long time ago,” and he only married her for the sake of their son, Jaycee.
“It was an accident which conceived Jaycee,” he admitted. “I have never thought of getting married, but I felt it was akin to being forced to get married.”
The Kung Fu Panda actor also confirmed he had many affairs throughout their marriage, adding he “had many girlfriends” in his youth.
One woman in particular was former beauty queen, Elaine Ng. In 1999, Elaine gave birth to their daughter, Etta Ng, whom she raised by herself. Jackie admitted that his affair with Elaine was a mistake, saying he had “only committed a fault that many men in the world commit.”
According to news outlet Nextshark, Jackie does not currently have a relationship with his daughter — he has reportedly left her out of his will, and has yet to visit Etta in person. The 17-year-old also said her father was “just a stranger” in an interview in 2015.

Such a heartless man will have his retribution in future, karma will hunt him till his soul cease to exist.
Scum. Don’t put your P in a V if you don’t want to be “forced” to marry someone. Only do it with someone you admire and love and want to have kids with. Or wear a condom. And then don’t stay married for 35 years but make her life hell. Way to go loser. And neglecting your daughter makes you the lowest form of scum there is.
I feel very different about Jackie Chan after reading that his children have all been mistakes, his words not mine. I could understand that conceptions can be an accident but it is rather Freudian that he chooses to call them ‘mistakes’. Also that he doesn’t acknowledge his second child as his daughter. Some people have overblown opinions of themselves and I now believe Chan is one of them.
Condoms and birth control are available in China, non? Use the damn things! At least he did what was the honourable thing (at first) by marrying the woman…but having affairs..tsk tsk. Should have just ended the relationship. And not seeing the daughter is stupid too. Made some bad decisions Jackie…

I always liked Jackie Chan, but not anymore. He says he only married his wife for the sake of their son, but what about his daughter? Why didn’t he do anything to help raise her? Was it because she was a girl & not a boy?!! He doesn’t acknowledge her nor visit her & apparently she is not in his will! What a jerk!!!

He’s a good person who’s not perfect. He’s human and in today’s world with millions of people without morals and values he did ok so far.
Typical narcissistic serial cheater. No empathy for the people he harmed or the lives he ruined with his selfishness. All about him. He’s the poor victim of his bad marriage. Why didn’t he let his wife find a man who knew how to love her? What a terrible father too but narcissists are bad parents. They’re too self-absorbed to see beyond their own needs.
I don’t get it how people always blame the man for a pregnancy and a child…women are more than half of the conception and pregnancy situation as they have 50% choice in having v-sex or not they too choose contraception or not and have sole authority over carrying the child to term.
Jackie tried to do the right thing and has realized the married life isn’t for him and that he prefers to play the field. He is forthright and honest about that so you must give him credit for that!
@ARcher totally agree with your analysis. The woman is as much to blame not that I excuse han for being a douche but the idea that these woman a blameless is a total farce. The only blameless people in this are the kids who asked for none of these shit. Also any of the people calling out Chan because he is being brutally honest, well guess what? He could have been PC and say all the right things yet what would be in his heart is what he actually said here. Would that be better then? Fact is most humans – men and women- are douches. The women here did what they did with Jackie most likely because he was famous that is how most women operate (maybe including all the commenters here). Jackie did what most me do if they have his fame and fortune- get as much “conquest” as they can if given the opportunity. I’m sorry, what did the woman do wrong? Maybe she wanted the baby and Jackie, and it doesn’t say she ever cheated on him or went to the media to say she was forced to marry him. In other words, he could have kept his big fat mouth shut. Now his son can carry this burden with him that his father felt “forced” into a loveless marriage. And btw, many people of different races marry someone they’re not initially in love with but they make it work by being loving. It doesn’t sound like he ever gave the marriage or the woman a chance. And I’m not even going to mention what he’s doing to his illegitimate daughter, other than making her depressed enough to kill herself.
