Just weeks after her ex-husband, Nick Lachey, announced his engagement to Vanessa Minnillo, Jessica Simpson told the media that she is set to marry NFL star Eric Johnson after he proposed to her last Thursday, six months after they started dating. Her rep said: “Yes, I am excited to confirm that they are engaged.” The 30-year-old singer showed off her diamond engagement ring Saturday during a photocall in Kansas while promoting her Jessica Simpson Collection fashion line. Jessica previously hinted she wanted to marry Eric, 31, and have children with him. She said recently: “I am from the south so I’ve definitely dreamed of being married my whole life and having children, so hopefully that’s in my future.”

I wish these two the best, but this news does bring up a couple of questions for me such as: is six months long enough to date before getting engaged? (I guess its different for everyone). Also, why announce it so soon after Nick’s news? Thoughts?
Yeah, I thought it was really weird that she made the announcement right after Nick’s. Anyway, I hope this one works out, but yeah, six months isn’t really long enough to get to know someone. I wonder how long she dated Nick?
She was nick for at least four years and they had a wee break up in the middle. Nick and Vanessa have been together since he became divorced from jessica (for over three years), so their engagement was pretty much expected:) which is awesome for them. Hers, however, she does sound a bit impulsive from her other relationships: tony romo (the one), john mayer (the one), nick (the one), and now this guy (ta da! the one). Hope it works out.
Hmmm very suspicious, is this a contest for who can get married the fastest? Now let’s see who has the most lavish wedding. I bet wedding planners are going to go nuts and try and create a let’s out do the other, sort of atmosphere and make a mint!
Hope this one will last, and six months isn’t a long time to be dating then get engaged. They should have waited a bit longer, but oh well
