Jessica Simpson has baby girl

Jessica Simpson has finally given birth to Maxwell Drew Johnson. The 30-year-old singer/actress checked into a Los Angeles hospital early this morning with several family members by her side, including sister Ashlee. It seems like years since Jessica started sporting that baby bump, becoming one of Hollywood’s trending topics. Her bump first caught the media’s attention back in August 2011. After weeks of false alarms, it looks like May 1 marks the spot. Her mother was spotted making her entrance into the hospital along with Eric Johnson’s parents. It is not certain whether Jessica was induced or if it was a scheduled C-section, but reports indicate she did not want a natural birth. Katy Perry tweeted, “Has Jessica Simpson had that baby yet? I’m getting anxious.” While comedian Chelsea Handler tweeted, “How has Jessica Simpson still not given birth to this baby? I’m getting frightened.” Jessica wrote on her website moments ago: “Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby girl, Maxwell Drew Johnson. We are grateful for all the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!” Measuring nearly 22 inches long, the little girl weighs nine pounds and 13 ounces. It is estimated that photos of the new baby are worth $500,000. With a reported 40-pound weight gain, I’m sure Jessica was just as eager to welcome her baby girl to the rest of the world. ~Graeme Mollison
