Pop singer-turned-country star Jessica Simpson is getting slammed for her new, curvaceous body. The public scrutiny over her weight gain came after photos were released of her performing at a Kiss Country Chili Cookout in Pembroke Pines, Fla. Simpson was wearing a tight black tank, wide belt and high-waist jeans that proved unflattering to many.
Simpson's sister, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, who recently gave birth to a baby boy, wrote on her blog that she's disgusted by the unkind remarks made about her sister's weight. "I am completely disgusted by the headlines concerning my sister's weight," wrote Ashlee on her Celebrity MySpace page. "A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman's weight or figure as a headline on Fox News." Simpson's trainer Harley Pasternak also came to her defense. "She's still sexy," Pasternak said. "She's still a beautiful woman. And I have no problem with the way she looks. I think if more people looked the way she looks now, the country would be a lot healthier."
