John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John’s Christmas album

John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John are releasing a Christmas album. The former co-stars are in talks to record the album - which will feature a follow-up to their famous Grease track 'You're The One That I Want' titled 'I Think You Might Like It' - and plan to give it an "intimate" feel. John, 58, said: "My desire was to make this Christmas an intimate album, not something too ostentatious or showy. I wanted people to be able to play it around the house or in the car during the holidays, and make us part of your celebration." Olivia, 64, also enjoyed the experience of being back in the studio with her on-screen sweetheart as she feels the pair - who played lovers Sandy and Danny in the hit movie - bonded since filming together back in 1978. She added to Australia's NineMSN: "John and I have always connected. That's never gone away. When we're together, we have a good laugh and feel bonded to one another. We've been through some amazing experiences together." The famous duo also have other legendary musicians lined up to feature on the greatly anticipated album, such as Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett and Kenny G.

   I was thinking this might be okay at first, but then I saw they’re adding Barbra Streisand and Kenny G into the mix, ensuring it’s for old folks. Why not have some younger talent mixed in, then it would have been something that appealed to a bigger audience. I won’t be buying it.

   Annie,

   Bite your tongue – Barbra Streisand is certainly not for “old folks”. And no “younger talent” could ever compare to her – no one is at Streisand level. During the holidays – people want nostalgia, songs they can sing to and unfortunately the “older” Brenda Lee Xmas songs. Ones we all know (young and old) and cherish. No one wants music from Drake/Jay Z or Pink – while sitting around the Christmas tree drinking hot chocolate. Give me a break.

   I’ll take Andy Williams’s “Happy Holidays” or Annie Lennox’s “Winter Wonderland” over any “young talent” songs for Christmas. There’s a reason why certain holiday songs are “classics” – and rightfully deserved.

   Looking forward to this duet – I love Travolta! Or should I say…Vinnie Barbarino…

   I would think that a CHRISTMAS album would span ALL generatins….it’s not only “old” people who listen to Christmas music.

   I am thrilled! My husband and I and my best friend and her husband just went to an interactive showing of Grease – great fun! Also I have loved Olivia since I was a teen strumming my baritone uke, trying to sing like her. I know all her early songs and Let Me Be There was one of my first 45’s. I am looking for a copy of a Mom for Christmas – one of my favourite Christmas movies. I listen to Christmas music starting in November, so bring it on – it will only help make my Christmas more memorable. Luv u Olivia and John. I am blessed that you are doing this now and not later.
