Justin Bieber talks sex, rape and evil Americans

By Alexandra Heilbron on February 17, 2011 | 168 Comments

In the new issue of Rolling Stone, which hits newsstands this Friday, Justin Bieber criticizes the United States and gives his thoughts on abstaining from sex until marriage. When asked if he wants to become an American citizen one day, this was his response: “You guys are evil,” he says with a laugh. “Canada’s the best country in the world. We go to the doctor and we don’t need to worry about paying him, but here, your whole life, you’re broke because of medical bills. My bodyguard’s baby was premature, and now he has to pay for it. In Canada, if your baby’s premature, he stays in the hospital as long as he needs to, and then you go home.” On the topic of abortion, he has a strong opinion: “I really don’t believe in abortion. It’s like killing a baby?” When asked if he believes in abstinence until marriage, he has a slightly different stance than that of his mother, who has said that Justin will wait until he’s married before he has sex. Justin, who’s reportedly dating Selena Gomez, told the magazine, “I don’t think you should have sex with anyone unless you love them. I think you should just wait for the person you’re…in love with.”

I can’t believe I agree with Justin Bieber.

  2. Casey • February 17, 2011 @ 12:44 AM

Love how Tribute left out the part of the abortion topic where he says if a woman is pregnant because of rape, she was raped for a reason (meaning it was her fault)

    I wish I was kidding.

  3. Jessica • February 17, 2011 @ 4:59 AM

Agree with him on all account but abortion and the topic of rape babies mentioned by Casey. That’s sick and I wish you were kidding too.

  4. nobody important • February 17, 2011 @ 8:50 AM

Haha. He’s a deep thinker that one.

“I dont think you should have sex with anyone unless you love them”
    – Yes, because most of us have sex with people we truly despise.

  5. Germain • February 17, 2011 @ 9:20 AM

Does anybody believe this kid is still a virgin?

  6. Age A • February 17, 2011 @ 10:42 AM

I think when he said women get raped for a reason he was refering to “gods” plan over all that exsists…religion is a huge load of crap but I HOPE that was what he was thinking. He seems to be a smart young man with a big talent or at the very least keeps his ears open and picks the comments he hears, catalogs them and uses them as needed…is’nt that what we all do?I wish him nothing but the best…

  7. Ronald • February 17, 2011 @ 10:43 AM

Rolling Stone now says they left something out in Justins quote about rape. It was supposed to read: Um. Well, I think thats really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I dont know how that would be a reason. I guess I havent been in that position, so I wouldnt be able to judge that. Rolling Stone reporter Vanessa Grigoriadis told a gossip site: I think he meant that God has a plan. Even for the most die-hard Christian, its hard to justify rape as part of Gods plan, and harder to justify rape that leads to pregnancy and abortion. I think he was wrestling with that in his answer, which I found to be solid and logical. I think it is being widely misunderstood. He did not say that rape was part of Gods plan.

Justin wasn’t saying if a woman is pregnant because of a rape, she was raped for a reason. He’s saying she was given a baby for a reason. I believe everything happens for a reason, too. Maybe the baby will bring her happiness. Maybe she’ll give it up for adoption and it will bring other people happiness. Maybe the baby will grow up to be a great person who brings a lot of good to the world.

Wow this is kind of embarassing for us Canadians. The fact that he said Americans are evil and that Canada the best country in the world, yikes. Canada is a great country but no country is the best.

  9. David Piscopo • February 17, 2011 @ 11:28 AM

Hey gang the kid is just that still a kid. It’s normal at the age to say the things he does like Canada is the best. Just like my dad is stringer than yours type of thing. He does have the medical part right though. I just came off a heart attack with 4 days in tge hospital with private and semi private care as needed and not based on what a plan covers. Now doing 4 months of rehab at the Civic heart institute. Cost zero of course not really as it is built into our taxes but everyone gets the care.
All humans should be entitled to health care. That not socialism just a caring community.
Anyways stick to music Bieber!! Stay in your domain. The kids a entertainer not a philosopher.

  10. Lynn • February 17, 2011 @ 11:33 AM

“no country is the best” – that is soooooo Canadian!
People from other countries including the States say that all the time that their country is the best. What is wrong with being proud of your countries attributes? I do not find it embarassing in the least. If no one country is the best are no countries the worst? I can think of a few I would not choose to live in and a few I would give a try. Let’s try being proud of our country for a change instead of standing placidly in the shadows.
Did anyone catch the “he said with a laugh” part? I don’t think it meant ‘evil’ literally.

  11. birdman_36 • February 17, 2011 @ 11:34 AM

His management team probably told him to say this

  12. Terrence • February 17, 2011 @ 11:36 AM

Great story, and though I think Rolling Stone does this on purpose to teen idols (try to make them look foolish), I don’t think they succeeded here. These were ridiculous questions to ask a 16-year-old, but I think he handled himself well and gave good answers.

  13. Denny • February 17, 2011 @ 11:56 AM

Well he for sure got one thing 100% right Canada is the best Country in all the world, and I as a happy Canadian have to say hes right at least here when one of my kids get sick, or like my saon was born 1month early noy only do they keep him there without me having to pay but they also gave me a nice apt inside the hospital, to stay so I was able to feed him as for his thoughts on abortion, hes a asshole what he said goes to show his parents taught him the wrong way and now after hearing his thoughts he can kiss this Canada womens Ass.

  14. Lori • February 17, 2011 @ 12:23 PM

Thanks, Ronald, for pointing out what Justin actually said in the article. Shame on Casey for her ridiculously mis-interpreted statement – she must be reporter because that’s what they seem to like to do – pick and choose statements and then twist what the person really says into something totally opposite from what they said!

  15. jjones • February 17, 2011 @ 12:33 PM

Way to go Ronald, I agree.

I’m glad to see Justin stick up for Canada and recognizes it as often as he does. There are a lot of Canadians in show business that hardly mention they’re even from Canada let alone state that Canada is the best Country. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else but Canada. It IS the best Country in the world. I give Justin credit for not being absorbed by the Americans.

  16. Jessie • February 17, 2011 @ 12:36 PM

This kid is so dumb. He should keep his mouth shut. He cant sing, cant dance, and cant act. Go away, Bieber. Go back to your little backwater town.

  17. Terry • February 17, 2011 @ 12:36 PM

Abortion believe it or not can save lives. My own mother got a back alley abortion when abortion wasn’t legal and there was no birth control. She died at the age of 26. She had me when she was only 17, tried to keep me for a year and a half…..courageous for a single girl back then, but Children’s Aid tricked her into signing me over to them and I was put up for adoption. They wouldn’t tell her what they’d done with me. When she became pregnant again at 26, she chose abortion rather than go through losing another child. If abortion had been legalized at that time she would still be alive today instead of losing her life at such a young age. People who are determined to abhort will find a way to do so, so they might as well have it done in clean facilities by doctors who know what they’re doing. It’s wrong to make such generalized comments about an issue such as abortion. Every case is unique. I’m not for it, I’m not against it. I think that those who are determined to do so need not lose their lives because of their decision….. It needs to stay legal so there’s access to the proper and safe facilities.

  18. Kyrsten Winterlake • February 17, 2011 @ 1:03 PM

I am not a fan of Justin Bieber but your article is so false, so twisted and so contrived that I have lost respect for your publication. Thus,I have canceled my subscription. Yes people who twist the truth 180 degrees and who vilify for no reason other than to profit are the scum of the earth.

  19. likeit1 • February 17, 2011 @ 1:07 PM

This is just a kid and he is not aware of the trauma of rape. He needs to know that some opinions that he gives are just not within his field of expertise or experience.

The interviewer should have know better than to broach this subject. Unless we had another kid interviewing a kid.

    Think next time young Justin…think.

hi,i know everyone has their own minds made up on this topic .mine is that ive lived in the US for many years ,and i can honestly say that Canada is the best country out of the 2. also it pisses me off when i hear them say that they are the most democratic and the best country in the world .if that’s so ,why cant people who are gay be in their military or get married ? why does just about every country hate them ? i know why ,its called Bush ! thank god for Pr.Obama ,because at least hes trying hard to turn things around. now about health care .your right Justin, I had a hospital stay in the US and they wanted me to pay 2500.00 for `ONE Tylenol` and i just stayed in over night .im serious ! @Terry ,i feel so awful for what you and especially your mom had to go through .and like you i say every women should have a right to chose whether or not to have a child .also to have the best hospitals to preform them . my point on this topic is simple . how is it that a man can have the right to just walk away from a pregnancy ,but the women is judged in every way possible if she dare chose not to put a child on this planet .everyone whose against abortion thinks the mom would not love this child or have no feelings about handing her child over to a total stranger for adoption. a lot of these women stories are not that simple .and that’s my 3 cents ppl.have a great day 🙂

  21. Ann • February 17, 2011 @ 1:30 PM

I’m American and I wish I could go back to NYC instead of being in this third world country where immigrants have more rights and get more money than citizens. Canada is a nanny nation. You are all babied and coddled. If you werent then you wouldnt need the US to stay afloat. The CEO’s of all the major companies are Americans. You are all just jealous. I wish I could find a job there and get the heck out of here. Toronto sucks and I am sick of paying for everyones kids, and refugees etc. No one gave me a hand out when I needed it because I am single and white. Funny how all the immigrants come here and they can afford to buy houses. Why cant people who were born here do that? Where do these immigrants find 1.5 million for a house in Toronto? There is something very wrong in this country. Bash the US all you want. Yes there are problems there, yes there is racism but at least people say it to your face instead of hiding it and acting all nicey nicey to your face and then bad mouthing you like here. Canadians act like they are so nice but they are all passive agressives. Get over yourselves and stop pretending like this place is so great. I have lived here for 23 long years and wish I had never come here.

  22. bubbles • February 17, 2011 @ 1:53 PM

Wow Ann, tell us how you really feel 🙂

  23. sheilah • February 17, 2011 @ 1:54 PM

Ann….go home to your neo nazi buddies and take Bieber with you – we wouldn’t miss your attitude in least. Go home to your racism, crime, healthcare bankruptcy. We don’t want you here either. What’s stopping you? Is your country sooo great that you can’t return and be supported until you get on your feet – like in Canada? Or is it that you’re enjoying the healthcare system?

Have you forgotten that we are all freakin’ immigrants in North America. Next time you meet a First Nations person, ask them what the price was for your freaking ancestors to settle on this continent!! Unbelievable that people like you still walk among us….

Please…don’t let the freakin’ border crossing arm hit your fat ass as you leave this great nation!

Don’t forget to salute your USA and Sieg Heil !

  24. linda from nb canada • February 17, 2011 @ 1:56 PM

well i think a lot of what you say Ann is true ! but that doesn’t mean the Americans are better nor smarter than the Canadians .remember, the US is feeding and housing more than 12 million illegals. no difference here ??…take California for an example ,you could fit everyone from Canada into that just one state ….so you`d figure with all those extra brains in the US ,the place would be smarter . its got nothing to do with jealousy ,but common sense .. i can go back anytime to the US too,but im lovin Canada and our people too much to go back in time ,to guns `n` hell ..so Ann, your ppl miss you ,so time to go home girl and please stop your whining ,bye bye.

  25. sheilah • February 17, 2011 @ 2:01 PM

oh…and Ann, don’t forget to be proud that your country was built on the backs of slaves. People that until recently were given the right to die for your country (and who were treated worse than the enemy while doing it) in wars but not eat next to a white man or someone like yourself, a white woman, in a diner…and you call us a ‘third world country’?

    Yeh…leave…please…

  26. linda from nb canada • February 17, 2011 @ 2:16 PM

@sheilah,i certainly agree with you 100% and how your ancestors paid for us living in this beautiful country ..i remember reading the true story of history and it made me sick to my stomach to think of what happened to all of you because of us ! now back to the topic , did you hear the news this morning ? the USA wants to charge the Canadians an entrance fee because their so much in dept ,lmao !! Ann would call this smart,i guess! im very grateful of what Canada has to offer .im on disability because of countless operations .but we sold our home and now we are building a new one ..get my point Ann? in the US this wouldn’t be possible and you know it ,we`d be in bankruptcy court losing anything we`d ever put our hands on again .God bless this beautiful land of ours 🙂

  27. Patti-Cakes • February 17, 2011 @ 3:12 PM

    @Ann – hahahaha – you’re hilarious.

You said: “Bash the US all you want. Yes there are problems there, yes there is racism but at least people say it to your face instead of hiding it and acting all nicey nicey to your face and then bad mouthing you like here.”

I’m not sure what’s funnier – that you think racism is all out in the open in the US (hence the reason the KKK are always covering themselves up ridiculous costumes and then commit their heinous crimes at night, i suppose?) or that Canadians show no racism to people’s faces but do it behind people’s backs? So racism is okay – as long as we say it to people’s faces. Awesome. I think you’ve just solved the world’s racism issues.

Ann – please don’t back to the US. I need you here to keep me laughing. Please, i beg you – coddle me and give in to me and STAY!

  28. Reba • February 17, 2011 @ 3:15 PM

These may not be welcome comments but, in all fairness, there were abolitionists and slavers on both sides of the borders. The difference is that the Yanks and the Rebs took it to the streets to sort it out. Americans get a better payout in Vegas and on gameshows; Canadians get taxed to the hilt, and their gameshows get you $15.25 and a tour of the city on a tram car. Both countries share similar geographic elements – Rockies, Appalacians, deserts, swamps, incredible forests; both countries put an incredible burden on the natural resources of this earth, and the large corporations IN BOTH COUNTRIES seem to get away with it.
Given all our similarities, its a wonder we don’t get along better. However, the differences in socio-cultural and philosophical matters are at opposite ends of the spectrum… and that’s where the great divide is.

Cdns can sing their national anthem – some can sing more than one verse, even tho’ the language is archaic (there’s something to be said for poetics, people). Most Cdns can sing the American anthem, plus America the Beautiful; I have yet to meet an American who can sing their own. My last encounter with an American consisted of two questions “What colours are on your flag?” When I answered red & white,he said “What colour is the start in the middle?” Yeesh.

Americans do involve themselves in the wars of the world; Cdns involve themselves as better than 20% of the peacekeepers in this world. Cdns see a weather system coming in thru’ Pennsylvania and batten down the hatchs. For Americans, the weather stops at the 49th parellel, and some northerly storm takes y’all by surprise. The reason the Americans think their country is the best in the world is because they no precious little about anyone else’s on anything but the most superficial level. USA, your biggest trade partner? Canada. USA, where do you get most of your oil? Canada. BTW, I really liked “The West Wing” – its amazing how art imitates life.
Just a few things to think about…. from north of the parellel.

  31. sheilah • February 17, 2011 @ 3:31 PM

Linda, it warms my heart to read that you appreciate. My First Nation people paid a huge price – yet they still welcomed my Irish people when they came too.
Yes, Canada does have problems but really, how great is it that we can open our arms to ALL peoples (even the Anns of the world) and they aren’t treated like sub humans? Problems and all, I can hold my head high and know that my country treats people like people, yes, even some that don’t deserve it. Ann…maybe instead of resenting that you’re ‘paying for other people’s kids’ – be thankful that you aren’t in such deperate need.
If the Americans would put away their racist ways and legalize all the millions of illegal immigrants living in their country who are not paying taxes – how much revenue would that be???? NO…they’re rather hold their racism to their chests and continue to spit on those people and blame them for all their woes instead of legalizing them and having them pay taxes. Sounds pretty stupid to me….but I’m Canadian…that might be why.
Ann, spend a moment to wonder if the attitude that you perpetuate is part of the world’s problem.

Does everyone forget this is a 16 year old child (at least the law says he is)He was brought up by his mom and grandfather in a Christian home with Christian values. But those values were thrown away for money and fame.Humanity is so hypocritical
Asking him questions about abortion and rape is in my eyes child abuse. So is prostituting him to the world of lustful teenage girls as their dreamboat lover.I blame his American handlers for that.
What they didn’t teach him was to be very quiet, and that anything he says CAN and WILL be used against HIM in the court of public opinion.

Hi all! Yes…I’m gonna say it!!! I’m proud to be Canadian!!! Of course we have our problems…however…what country doesn’t? I am not gonna bash the US. All I’m gonna say is that maybe the Amercians are a little jealous…we do get treated better in other countries…we aren’t trying to take them over. Yes we do have great healthcare…however…we pay our taxes to have the best…why do you think a lot of doctors want to come here? As for Justin Bieber…there are quite a few people on here that are bashing him, but remember…different families raise THEIR kids differently…is your family so perfect? I can speak from experiance…I was “date raped”. Now I know some of you may not think it’s rape when a boyfriend does it and may think I asked for it…however NO means NO! No matter who it is. Justin is still a kid! He still hasn’t experience life! I mean give him a break already! I mean have you ALWAYS said something and NEVER regreted it later? How do we know he isn’t sitting at home why or if he could’ve worded things better what would have said differently? People…he is only human…just because he a celeb doesn’t mean he’s trying to tick everyone off! Until you can look back on yourselves and say you have a perfect life and have never stuck your foot in your mouth few times…DON’T JUDGE!!

the only exception i would have for abortion, and trust me it took a long time come to this,is if a woman was raped.obviously wasn’t wanted so thats the only exception.i know it’s not the babies fault.but if it was made unwanted can you imagine how it will turn out.daddies discontent for women and violence, and i don’t really know about the mom.each person is built differently.how she would take to the baby.each time looking at the baby, remembering the way he was conceived,re living the pain and humiliation with each gaze at the baby.or maybe she’ll love that baby and be the greatest mom.like i said.depends on the woman.i don’t mean to offend anybody with my opinion.its just that,my opinion.god bless.take care.

    What a ridiculous comment !!!
Third world country?Babied and coddled? We are nice people, ask any other country in the world. We are a great nation.Jealous??? I dont think so !!
.You are one angry, miserable, hateful person and
you are certainly racist, and whats keeping you here anyway?? Surely there is a job somewhere in the USA for you,or maybe you dont want to give up the health care you have gotten for the past 23 years???( why not a Canadian citizen after 23 years of living here?Just curious.)
    Any way
Let us know when you are leaving, maybe we can arrange an escort of RCMP and beavers to make sure you stay across the border.

Our banks are in good shape; we havent been involved either openly or covertly in more wars than all other nations put together; we dont risk bankruptcy when we choose to use the conventional medical system; AND, we have the best hockey team in the world.

The global economy is all linked sure, but take a look at your own, polluted backyard before you point the finger at us.

Justin Bieber is just a kid. An honest kid. He doesnt have the life experience or knowledge to answer the kinds of questions put to him, questions that even adults can and do flub.

Canada has problems sure; I didnt vote for our current Prime Minister, but the last time I checked, he didnt invade another sovereign nation on trumped up lies so he could avenge his dad.

Loved your opinion(s) in your write-in, donnaandavid–it was good for a laugh, at the end! Yeh, I’m Canadian and PROUD of it! I wouldn’t want to have been born anywhere else, esp. the States!! I don’t always agree with the “POLITICS” in our country, but our Country really does take CARE of its people & immigrants! We are all treated equally, something more than I could say of the U.S. I must say that at least they have OBAMA running their country now; maybe things will get somewhat better down there too! As far as Bieber goes, he has a lot of “growing up” to do, before he should be commenting on such ADULT issues like Abortion &Rape. RS mag. should have NOT asked him such questions! But, I’m happy he’s PROUD to be a CANADIAN!! Just hope it stays that way!

  49. Shanna • February 17, 2011 @ 9:27 PM

Seriously? I sometimes wonder where people got their values from or if their parents even gave them any! I am in my twenties and have way more values than some on here who are clearly older. I love my country…it is the best place for me to live, and I am proud to be Canadian. I don’t think I’m better than other people just because I say that Canada is the best. If you don’t like Canada, than no one is going to keep you from leaving. If somewhere else is better for you, then go there and stop complaining about the place you have called home by living here for over 20 years!

Back to Justin. I think he is a wonderful minor who is trying to get through his teen years the best he can, like all of us have to do. As just a 16 (almost 17) year old, he is fairly intelligent. He has strong beliefs and will be battling against others for standing behind his beliefs. It will not be easy for him with all his fame. I will be praying for him to stay strong and stay true to what he believes. God bless you Justin.

  50. Nessa • February 17, 2011 @ 10:05 PM

    @ Ann

If Canada sucks so much why have you lived here for 23 years? I guess it doesn’t suck that much, does it?
Every country has their problems but I think the U.S. has more so than others.

  51. teddy • February 17, 2011 @ 10:59 PM

Ann: I agree with you! There are TOO many foreigners in Canada – GET THE HELL OUT AND GO BACK TO YOUR GOD-FORSAKEN COUNTRY! There, that felt cathartic! Funny, if the USofA was such a WONDERFUL, BETTER, PLACE, wtf are you doing here? Can’t get a job because your economy south of the border has gone, well, south of the border? Oh, boo hoo! I for one am sick of narrow-minded, uneducated whiners from America!

  52. Mark Townsend • February 18, 2011 @ 12:47 AM

I’m Canadian. I agree with Bubbles. The US is a great country. We have Loonies and Twonies. What the hell is that.
At least the US doesn’t mess with it’s heritage.
We are getting all the wrong kind of immigrants in Canada now. they sure know where to come for the free handouts. And, just try and get rid of the illegal immigrant criminal elements who break our laws. You can’t. too many left wingers.
    Only in Canada.

  53. Djl • February 18, 2011 @ 12:50 AM

I think that justin should keep quiet…..thats all i have to say

  54. KH • February 18, 2011 @ 3:46 AM

Why are these interviewers and reporters asking a 16 year old such heavy and sensitive questions?

@Casey, I don’t think he said that it’s the woman’s fault if she get’s raped.. idiot. He obviously doesn’t know much about the topic, and was put on the spot by some asshole interviewer. He said “everything happens for a reason”, about having a child, not about being raped idiot.

and for all of you who say that all the immigrants need to go back to their country? Where do you think YOU came from? Every single person emigrated from some place and at some point, maybe not you, but your ancestors, etc. Canada is a mosaic of cultures as we EMBRACE many cultures and customs that people bring. That is what makes Canada unlike all the rest. end rant.

  55. jenn • February 18, 2011 @ 6:19 AM

It’s amazing how the topic is one thing and people get so off topic and bashing each other and calling them names. After reading through these comments, I can see why! First of all Rolling Stone has no right asking a kid,(yeah, he’s still a kid) such questions. If they want to ask that of their older rocker band members that have been around the block a few times, fine but they should be ashamed! Now he’s got to go through all this criticism for their stupidity! Keep your head up Justin, true Canadians shouldn’t judge you..

Now as far as Ann goes, I agree with the lot that have told you to go home! Why do we need people in Canada with such negativity and hate? If you hate Toronto…leave! If American’s are so much better and nicer than we are, why when I lived in England did people tell me that they were sorry they offended me when they mistook my Canadian accent for an american one? Some people wouldn’t even speak to me unless they were sure I was Canadian. It was even recommended to me while being there to put a Canadian flag emblem on my backpack as if I ever needed help, people would not hesitate.
Hey, I will help contact the mounties, beavers, cub scouts, girl guides whoever you need to escort her out.
    Is today too soon…lol

  56. Terry • February 18, 2011 @ 6:22 AM

I love Canada and wouldn’t want to live in any other country. I feel very lucky that I was born here. If I had to pick another country I might choose New Zealand. I just don’t appreciate our government treating Canadian born people as if we’re third class citizens…….long topic. But I love our neighbours to the south. If we had flack from any other country, the Americans would be by our side in a heartbeat. We have our differences and don’t always agree or get along but we will always have each other’s backs. But let’s not fool ourselves. Their military force is probably ten times what ours is, and if they chose to take over….say our water supply there isn’t a lot we could do to stop them, especially if fresh water became a life or death issue among nations…and frankly, I can see that happening in the not too distant future. We’re all wondering where to bury our garbage already. We’d be best to keep them as our allys and I don’t find that hard to do, as we are very similar in our customs and ideas on Freedom, and I find most Americans very likeable people. Some of them are my best friends. As for their ignorance about Canada, that’s not entirely the fault of the American people, as they were never forced to learn about Canada in their schools from a young age as we Canadians were always forced to learn about American history in our schools. Americans basically created Movieworld and Hollywood, and in those movies, we Canadians AND Americans were all bedazzled by the popular actors and their big awesome cities like New York, Los Angeles, etc, etc, depicting life and the people of the United States. Canada has just begun to produce a worthwhile movie quality for watching, having learned much about that from the States. So now, people in other countries can learn about Canadian lands, actors and singers such as Gordon Pinsent, KD Lang, and a long list of others. There always were Canadian produced movies but they were of cheap grade, low quality, poorly produced, and not appealing to watch even for Canadians. Movies are powerful influences and send strong impressions of other countries nationally. But, since it all originated from the USA, Americans know more about their land, their people and their history, and for that matter, so do the rest of us know more about American people and history than perhaps about our own. Why would they have had to direct their interest toward any other country but thier own? Yet we choose to call them arrogant. I just don’t agree. It’s simply that Americans as well as ourselves have been better educated about America than about any other country. My two cents worth.

  57. JJ • February 18, 2011 @ 7:15 AM

He’s a young man of which fame has struck early. In 40 years his interviews will be filled with apologies for things he’s saying now. I pray that no woman he knows is ever raped or anything remotely close to it as it will mess his head. The guilt alone for what has come out of his mouth now will be forever burned in his brain and he won’t be able to live with himself for even thinking it let alone saying it in an interview. These “stars” aren’t ever put on the spot, they know exactly what questions they are going to be asked and have ample time to think of an answer. I feel “bad” that obviously no one told him that he could say “no comment”. He is young so he can be forgiven for the things hes said. In his interview he was also asked “if he could go anywhere in the world to any restaurant and eat whatever he wanted, what would it be?” His answer was to come back to Canada to eat a chicken meal at Swiss Chalet. Now if that isn’t canadian and a teenager I don’t know what is!!!
Ann…we’re talking about Justin Biebers interview with Rolling Stone Magazine……..oh, and to get a job in the states you need to be looking for a job in the states. Bye now!!

  58. Jason • February 18, 2011 @ 9:14 AM

I was born in the USA, deep in the heart of the south. I love it there. I moved to Canada and have lived here for 20 years. I love it here. All I have to say is here or there you have your good people and your A-holes. So far, I have been reading alot of A-holes who think they have an accurate opinion on current and past affairs. Nothing but negativity. I stand up for both the USA and Canada because North America is the greatest place in the world and I personally have no desire to see anywhere else because i’m so happy here in Canada and the USA. Whether your American or Canadian when you talk your trash its just silly and its just exactly that. Trash.

PS: I don’t like Bieber’s music and I have no idea what drew me to even read this article.

Is Canada A Justin? or a Trudeau? mm..interesting!
Is the US a Ronald Regean or James Dean Or maybe a fellow from a beautiful island just off the mainland.
    Countries are their people.

likeit1 –  “This is just a kid……….He needs to know that some opinions that he gives are just not within his field of expertise or experience. The interviewer should have know better than to broach this subject. Unless we had another kid interviewing a kid. Think next time young Justinthink.”

I agree partly with you But would you have said that about me if I was 16 yo??  I would have told you that I knew one 1 topic anyway: abortion. Even before I was 16 I Didn’t believe in it!! There No Way in Heaven or on this Earth, would I kill my own baby that I created with my own reproductive system!!! Our bodies are meant to create Life Not kill the Life We create! At that age this topic was in My field of expertise!  I agree that a few things are not in his field of experience. I agree partially with him so he was Thinking! You canNot think for him! Only his Mom & Dad can guide him or others when appropriate.

Linda – “or have no feelings about handing her child over to a total stranger for adoption. a lot of these women stories are not that simple.”
Well, this is very simple: your saying to kill the baby instead of letting him/her live. Did you know how many babies get adopted and get Loved the same as if that child is there own Child!  One woman is 21 & she was adopted and shes got a job and Volunteers to Serve the Community! She also just met her Mom, who really wanted to see her!! Let your baby Live, so he/she can live a Life like You have!!

RJ – “Does everyone forget this is a 16 year old child (at least the law says he is)He was brought up by his mom and grandfather in a Christian home with Christian values. But those values were thrown away for money and fame.Humanity is so hypocritical. Asking him questions about abortion and rape is in my eyes child abuse. So is prostituting him to the world of lustful teenage girls as their dreamboat lover.I blame his American handlers for that.”

Again, I would have Loved some adult to ask me ques.’s about abortion when I was 16 yo’s!! To me that would be no abuse at all!

Darren – “but if it was made unwanted can you imagine how it will turn out?”

Yes, the baby would be unwanted but No I canNOT predict how he’d turn out. You canNOT predict the future. What if he did turn out good?? Thats being like Miley’s dad and allowing it to happen and then say an easy ‘sorry’ afterward.

A mature woman would say, This baby is part of me now and I Am still Responsible for my half, no matter what happened.
Its Not the babies fault its Growing in the woman’s stomach, so Why kill him??  Who said this  life would be easy?

  61. MH • February 18, 2011 @ 11:56 AM

First to Ann, what are you doing here seriously, you hate us so much what exactly stopped you from going back to your own country?? And as for there being way too many foreigners here, where did your ancestors come from?? That goes for you too Teddy. You may as well all go back to where you came from if that’s you’re attitude. I am first generation born here, my family were immigrants. I have been pretty much all over the world and yes pretty much all over the states too and let me tell I have a great appreciation for my country, Canada is by far the best country out there and that’s speaking from actual experience. I remember going for a vacation to the states and meeting up with your fellow American’s and they actually asked me if I lived in an igloo and how hard it must be to deal with all that snow. They even asked me if all our cops were mounties and said they heard they don’t even carry any weapons. Come on seriously!!! Are your great Americans so ignorant that they can’t even look us up and see for themselves who their neighbours are and where they live, we are neighbours for crying out loud. The American people are not a loved people. When I went to the Bahamas, people were comparing the Americans to the Canadians and let me tell you nothing nice was said about your oh so great country and people. Are you seriously that proud that your country felt the need to invade a whole other country for no reason at all, that they sent your own soldiers to get killed and for what, so that your dumb president can avenge his even dumber dad??? Our country is very mulitcultural, but so is the States and you have more people than we do, think about that. I am very proud of my country! So sorry for all the ranting, but I just had to add my own two cents.

  62. MH • February 18, 2011 @ 12:03 PM

You may want to check out @RacingForACause – twitter.com/RacingForACause – hes only 9 yrs. old!! He raises $$$$$ for a cause.

  65. Red • February 18, 2011 @ 12:45 PM

He’s a kid who gave his opinion. Any opinion he would have given would be criticized by all, no matter what it was. I personally like that he was raised with values and is sticking with them.
And I also think every baby should be loved, no matter how it is conceived. Like a previous poster, it’s not the child’s fault! I think the greatest act of courage and love a mother can do is to bring another life into this world, whether it was wanted or not. Everyone should have a chance to live.

  66. C-Dub • February 18, 2011 @ 2:50 PM

I cannot believe all these comments. Whomever it was that said (and I’m too lazy to scroll up and re-read) that Justin has had sex already, I doubt it. When puberty kicks in then we can speculate that one.
As for is Canada the best, well we are in the top 8 (lol) G8. We have pro’s and cons like anyone else and USA is evil, but to just point out health care, that’s only 1 thing. He shouldn’t say they are evil, they re hard core about their patriotism and where did he become the ‘star’ he is today?? USA. That’s where everyone from around the world seems to want to make their dreams come true…and he did it THERE. He might want to look at where most of his fan base is and retract that.
Either way he is still new in the entertainment biz and should watch his quotable comments.

  68. Susanne • February 19, 2011 @ 12:55 AM

No wonder there is so much evil in this world, listen to yourselves, we need to love each other unconditional, If we gave more love this world would be a better place. God created this beautiful Universe for us to enjoy and get along with people. God is about love not hate. When something bad happens to people many blame God for that, otherwise they don’t think about God. God loves us soo much that he sent his one and only son Jesus (over 2000 yrs ago)to this earth to suffer & die for the whole world because of our sin,he paid the price for us, we didn’t deserve this but he did this because he loves us so much. He then rose on the third day. God says whoever believes in him and asks him to forgive us our sins we will live with him in heaven for etirnity after we die. Read the bible that is were you find the truth.

  69. Ronald • February 19, 2011 @ 1:29 AM

I believe that Canadians and Americans are two of the greatest County in the World.I am a Canadian and proud of it,but also love our neighbors the Americans.Just because Justin made a statement like that, doesn’t mean he hates Americans. We should not make barriers by imposing fees to enter both Country, this would be a mistake .We are trade partners,we love the people,we have our differences, but remember we stand together helping each other out.God bless America and God save our Queen, and we stand on guard for thee.We must work together to make North America a better place for every one.No matter color of our skin, religion, sex, etc. We must thank God that we live in peace.Amen.

  70. Algae • February 19, 2011 @ 5:29 AM

Hello Suzanne and Ronald. Bless you, even if you are deluded in believing there is a GOD. Your hearts are in the right place though. Even though I am a confirmed Canadian agnostic I share your values of peace and good will to human kind. Canada is a secular country and that is a significant advantage we have over the USA. The USA has a lot of right wing evangelist nutbars. These morons are ruining the USA by creating tension and division. Too bad our good neighbours are going down the tubes. They will never again realize their powerful standing in the world. A great imperialist power is dying. Greed, poor morals and religion did them in.

  71. Paul M. • February 19, 2011 @ 1:11 PM

I don’t think anyone should say their country is the best in the world even though I am proud to be Canadian. Canada does have alot of good but it’s not a perfect nation. We pay one of the highest taxes but then we see where our money goes. So in that case I don’t mind. Our country has bitter cold winters, but knock on wood have less natural disasters. Our banking system is the best in the world, as a result we are managing this recession pretty good. Our medical system is good that we don’t have to worry about paying for it, but the service at times can be lengthie. Some times they purposely delay operations because they feel you can servive with out it, but over all I think our country is one of the best in the world. Besides Justin Beiber is just a kid what does he know.

  72. Ash • February 19, 2011 @ 5:12 PM

This article leaves out a lot. He also mentions how he can’t really say anything about abortion and rape because he’s never been in that situation. He says a lot in that article and I think we should read it and base our opinions off it instead of this. I was impressed by some of his answers. He doesn’t use the highest vocabulary but he still gave some good ones.

  73. Ronald • February 19, 2011 @ 8:07 PM

No kidding, Ash. This story tells us a bit about what’s in the magazine, and if we want to read the whole thing, we can go find it and read it if we’re interested enough. It’s 3 or 4 pages long, I doubt Tribute would have permission to reprint the entire thing. And I posted above the whole quote about abortion above, which Rolling Stone doesn’t even have in their original article.

  74. My opinion • February 19, 2011 @ 8:18 PM

Terry (Feb17) – I`m sorry to hear about your mothers rough times but don`t you think that if she didn`t want to have children then she should have taken measures to prevent getting pregnant. Such as using protection, birth control methods, condoms, etc… She wouldn`t have to get an abortion if she was more careful. Too many people have physical relationships without thinking of the consequences that follow such as Pregnancy, HIV, Diseases, etc.

As for Justine comments, I think we are all entitled to our opinion, even if others don`t like them. But we shouldn`t forget that he`s just 16 years old & still has alot of life learning to do.

Don’t most Americas have health care insurance at the companies they work at? Something like 17 percent do not. Besides, Justin, as that Body Guard’s employer, shouldn’t YOU be providing him with insurance? Anyhow, Justin handled those questions very well, and he has every right to have his own opinions about things and Canada ROCKs! But so does America in it’s own ways.

  77. Terry • February 21, 2011 @ 2:49 AM

To “My Opinion”….Thanks for your comments. But if you reread my post you’d see that I mentioned there were no birth control methods at the time my mother got pregnant. She was just 17 when she had me as well, and even if birth control had been available in her day, accidents still happen. This goes way back before your time. You were born in an era where everything is available to you. Had the option of aborting been available to her in a clean hospital when she became pregnant again she wouldn’t have died at age 26. Morally right or wrong, people have the option available to them today, therefore, only one life would be lost rather than two.

  78. Shannon • February 21, 2011 @ 12:08 PM

I actually completly agree with what Justin is saying, he’s being soooo honest and that is a really good thing on his part 🙂 He’s truely amazing to follow what the bible says about having sex when your married cause your virginity is a special gift that you can give to your husband or wife and like there are sooo many teens out there that just have sex for no reason and i think its soo stupid that their doing that!! Justin your truely amazing and someone that i would look up too 🙂 rock on!!

There is a lot of talk going on around you about sex. Sex is in just about every magazine, newspaper, television show, and movie. It is the point of a lot of music. Our world has gotten lax about sex, making it seem like premarital sex is okay because it feels good, but the Bible does not agree. God calls us all to control our passions and wait for marriage.

Genesis 2:24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. (NIV)

1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable (NIV)

i agree with justin about the usa health system stinks for visitors .when i was pregantabout 36 yearswe were visiting in the states qand i went to the olympia washinton and i started having severe cramping and i was only 5 months .so took me to the hospital and because i wasnt from the states and was from canada. i was going to have topay for a doctor to see me so we decided to cut our visit got checked out town just across the states border . found out was having false labour
so if sick in the states you pay for it
now when i was a child ,my stepfather raped me and i had an abortion, you see it depends on the circumstances that your put in .justin is right aboutone thing it depends on yourbelieves in the church.and having sex before marriage . an example my daughter was only going on 13 when she got drunk with some freinds and became pregant ,to this day she wouldnt change her mind on having her first child who is now going into her 11 years.
but as i said it depends on your circumstances ,i was their for her and the first 3 children she had ,the last one she took over raisingthe little one. and if my daughter could talk to teenage girls she would tell them think abouthaving sex and the consequence, not only for them but for the littleone their caring ,alot girls think great get pregant but they donot know the sleepless nites the frustrationand wishing sometimes that they never kept it.but justin thank you for being truthful about sex ,the states ,and giving alot of girls and guys to think about on sex, because alot oung peoplelook up to him and watch his life and what he does in his actions .and canada is the best place to come to for health care ,at least here they treat you if your from another country .keep good work up thanks ,my granddaughter is got a real crush ,thanks for being so honest.goodluck in your future .

Why does everyone twist the words of a 16 year old into things he wasn’t trying to say? He should be proud of his own country. Americans and Canadians both have thier problems sowe shouldn’t be holding them against each other. I’m an American and proud to be one, though I’m not proud of all of the things Americans have done and are doing. And as for Justin’s thoughts on abbortion, none of us really know exactly what he was trying to say, so we can stop assuming things. I think he is to young to have opinions on this topic. I don’t believe in it, but everyone who goes through that has a different story. The interviewer shouldn’t have brought up topics like this, especially with someone so young.

Wow..Justin Bieber shouldn’t be talking. I love him & his music but seriously. He SHOULD NOT be bad mouthing the United States. This country is bad because of the bad decisions of the President. It’s not ‘the people’ of the United States. MOST of his fans are in the United States. It’s sad because Scooter Braun, his manager, is an American. Without Scooter he wouldn’t be known throughout the world. Bad mouthing America is like bad mouthing Scooter. America is where he made all of his money. I know he has his own opinion but I have mine too. If you really think about it, the U.S has a better government than Canada. I’m sure Canadians get abortions too. So what’s he talking about? Why is he here if he doesn’t like America? Since he’s still a teen, he doesn’t know that Canadians still have to pay for other stuff beside doctort bills. I agree America is screwed up but you can’t bad mouth the country who gave you all of this money and fame.

Committing genocide against the natives, entering wars late having profited from them and aligning themselves with the victors and pretending they were reason the allies won, starting wars with the Mexicans to steal their land, reinventing world history through Hollywood, stealing Iraqi oil, using agent orange in Vietnam, being the only country to use nukes against civilians, subverting democracy in Latin America, being the biggest arms supplier, the biggest debtor nation of all time, the biggest pornographer, the most obese nation. Of course the USA is evil. It is utterly vile and despicable too. If you don’t understand why Bieber said so, do your homework!

I find nothing beautiful about America. They try to keep to the ‘top dog’ status in the world but in reality they are a bankrupt nation in need of support from other nations.
