Kate WinsletKate Winslet is ”determined” to win the Best Supporting Actress BAFTA this Sunday.

The 40-year-old actress is in the running for the prestigious prize for her performance as Joanna Hoffman in Steve Jobs, the biopic about the late Apple co-founder.

Kate faces stiff competition in the category from Alicia Vikander for Ex Machina, Jennifer Jason Leigh for The Hateful Eight, Julie Walters for Brooklyn and Rooney Mara for Carol and although she can’t pick a winner from the impressive list she definitely has her eye on the prize.

The British screen star – who took home the Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe for her portrayal of Joanna – said: ”I don’t know if I’m necessarily hopeful (about winning) but I’m just more determined at this point. You know I really do just feel it’s been an amazing year, it’s been a great year for women in film but this particular category of Best Supporting Actress, it’s been really quite up in the air, you know people have been floating in and out of this category, I won the Golden Globe, I was so fortunate to have won that but at the same time there’s no shoe-in … Root for me on Sunday, let’s take it home for the Brits.”

Kate is so unsure which one of the fabulous actresses will take home the Best Supporting Actress accolade she has urged no one to put a wager on who might win.

She quipped: ”I think that it’s anyone’s guess really. I wouldn’t want to be putting a bet on who’s going to win this award because who knows. I’m not going to to go down the bookies that’s for sure!”

The 69th BAFTA Awards take place at The Royal Opera House in London this Sunday (14.02.16) and will be hosted by Stephen Fry.
