The Toronto stage production of Les Misérables is currently in rehearsals and the media was invited to watch the cast perform a couple of numbers this week. Ramin Karimloo, whom we previously interviewed for the 25th Anniversary of The Phantom of the Opera at Royal Albert Hall, stars as Jean Valjean. Born in Iran, Ramin attended high school in Richmond Hill and has spent the past several years in England, where he played Jean Valjean in London’s West End; Enjolras in the 25th Anniversary concert of Les Misérables at London’s O2 and the title role in The Phantom of the Opera.

Canadian Idol Season 3 winner Melissa O’Neil, who has starred on Broadway and at the Stratford Festival in Jesus Christ Superstar, plays Eponine, while Winnipeg native Samantha Hill, who appeared in the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera, will play Cosette. Les Misérables is the first show of the 2013-2014 Mirvish Subscription Season and performances for the limited engagement at the Princess of Wales Theatre begin September 27, 2013. Tickets are $35 to $130 and can be purchased at 416-593-4225. Watch a video of the rehearsal below:

It looks like the choreography is somewhat different, I’m wondering why they would change something that was working?
