The Broadcast Film Critics Association Award nominations for the 17th annual Critic’s Choice Awards were announced this morning. Steven Spielberg’s historical drama Lincoln received an astounding 13 nods, beating the record set in 2010 by Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan (which had an impressive 12 nominations). Still, competition was close as Les Misérables came in second place with 11 nods, followed by Silver Linings Playbook at 10 and Life of Pi with 9. Best Actor nominations were snagged by Joaquin PhoenixDaniel Day-Lewis, Bradley Cooper, Hugh Jackman, Denzel Washington and John Hawkes. Best Actress nods include Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, Marion Cotillard, Emmanuel Riva, Naomi Watts and Quvenzhané Wallis. If Wallis—who was only five years of age when chosen to star in Benh Zeitlin’s Beasts of the Southern Wild—wins Best Actress, it would make her the youngest actress ever to receive this honor. The Critics’ Choice Movie Awards airs live on January 10, 2013. ~Brandon Bastaldo
