Margaret Cho ‘outs’ co-star John Travolta

Margaret Cho, who is known for her controversial comedy routines, shocked audiences when she “outed” former co-star John Travolta during a recent performance in Australia. Cho, who worked with the actor during the filming of the 1997 action thriller Face/Off, labelled Travolta as “gay” several times throughout her routine. “I’m going to get in trouble but I’ll just tell you. He is so gay. John Travolta is so gay,” she told the crowd. “He’s not just gay. He doesn’t just like men. He is Oscar Wilde gay…like Lord Byron gay.” Cho, who is openly bisexual herself, described her experience working with Travolta: “He was so pampered and so taken care of, it was the closest I have ever been to being in the presence of a king…or queen, actually.” The gay rights activist concluded her rant with, “But I felt bad for him because he was so gay and couldn’t be out about it.” Travolta, who is married to Kelly Preston, was accused of sexual harassing several men recently. Two lawsuits were filed by male masseurs last year, but were eventually dropped. ~Rebecca Raveendran

If true…does it really matter? Does anyone care? John Travolta is well liked and loved…now that you have done this let’s see what happens to your ‘barely there’ career NOW !….Good luck to you!

Actually they are both talented. Homosexuality does not detract from that. It’s funny because it has the ring of truth.

Gay travolta is such old news.

Cho is a very talented individual. She’s funny, and she’s not saying anything everyone doesn’t already know.

It seems rather obvious that Travolta is, and always has been, gay. I don’t really care, except for the fact if he is truly is hiding this, and rather poorly, he is not doing a disservice to only himself, but to the many younger people who feel they too have to hide. Society is not through its evolution of acceptance, however it’s no longer the land mine it once was to step on. I have little to no doubt that hiding who he truly is , is scientology based more than anything else. Scientology has a bizarre record of these things…mind you the catholic church changed the sabbath day, so I guess every so-called religion corrupts in its own way.

Who says John Travolta is “hiding who he truly is”? IF he is gay, Maybe he just doesn’t want to talk about it, and he doesn’t have to either. It really ought to be HIS choice without people saying he owes it to himself or to an entire younger gay generation. What nonsense. You don’t see heterosexuals put into this same kind of situation- Why not come out and talk about YOUR sex life. Sheesh.

He can’t admit it, he has to hide it because of his religion…

  9. Judy • May 9, 2013 @ 1:01 PM

wow…. really? tasteless. I don’t think she should have done this… everybody loves him and always will.

  10. Laurie • May 9, 2013 @ 1:30 PM

Oh no. Margaret who said that?

  11. Lenny • May 9, 2013 @ 1:37 PM

    Hollywood’s worst kept secret……….

    She was in Face/Off??????????
Anyway who cares. Maybe he’s bi like her? Loves his kids and Kelly Preston and they have an arrangement. Either way who cares.

I think it’s really unfortunate that she feels the only way she can get laughs is at the expense of someone else. John Travolta is a great actor and appears to be a nice person. Why she pulled him and his sexuality into her routine, I can’t understand. But this is bullying – celebrity or not. Shame on her.

  14. Gus • May 9, 2013 @ 4:29 PM

@Elizabeth why is she calling him gay an “expense”? I mean she did not call him a criminal, child molester, thief, drug addict, serial cheater..you get my point. Why is sit so bad if he is called gay whether he is or not. I mean lets assume you are a white female (or any other race) and then I label you as being black Chinese (or any race besides who you are) is that bullying you, degrading you or getting laughs at your expense? i mean when Chris Rock said whites folks should vote for Obama cuz Mitt Romney is more black than Obama all I heard was laughs. The point is if someone is not racist they will not care if you label them of as being another race (do I really care if i am labeled as Asian, Hispanic or black inspiute of my blonde hair and blue eyes?) nor will it bother someone one bit if you say they are gay if they do not see being gay as some kind of a curse(as a heterosexual all my life why would i care if someone says I am gay? and if I was gay why would I care?). To even things up I am calling out Ellen Degeneres, Rosie O’Donnel and Rupert Everett as the straightest people ever. Those three are so heterosexual they should use their pics instead of words to define heterosexual in a dictionary. So sad they cant just be hetero and be true to themselves hahaha. Now we are all even!

Not sure why Cho is talking about this. It’s not like the earth’s future depends on if Travolta is gay or not. His troubles are not whether he is gay or not but if he has been sexually harassing someone. That has nothing to do with his sexual orientation.

  16. Dr.Frankenstein • May 9, 2013 @ 8:27 PM

i think him and Tom Cruise would make a lovely couple

  17. Pat • May 10, 2013 @ 1:44 AM

There is only one God and that God is the only entity who knows who is gay and who is not. Cho should go home and wash her own dirty laundry instead of worrying about someone else’s.

  18. Linus • May 10, 2013 @ 6:06 AM

Margaret is that what your career has come to bashing and talking about other’s people’s business? You are a stupid slanted eye bitch shut your big mouth and go back to where u came from.

If John Travolta is gay it’s not your business or anyone else’s he is a talented actor, and is liked by everyone and you are not!

  19. Sally • May 10, 2013 @ 9:25 AM

She got what she wanted, the first publicity she’s had in years. I’m not even sure who she is.

  20. lennyr • May 10, 2013 @ 11:18 AM

This, whatever it was, is discusting. Can’t you find better material. You don’t get nicer than John Travolta. If you’re the writer of your material find a new job if not fire who does. Get a life.

  21. Esh • May 13, 2013 @ 1:23 PM

One thing that everyone knows is that john Travolta is going to ignore this until it past jus like most celebrities do. I’m not mad at her only cause she is a comedian and this is what they do. If yall look up any comedian ull c that they also talk about ppl. She just doing her job.

  22. Scott • May 16, 2013 @ 2:17 AM

Why the hell does anyone care? Its his personal business anyways. It is no one elses business. It bothers me that the public and other gay or bisexual entertainers think they have some sort of moral obligation or responsibility to out everyone. I used to like Cho but now I lost respect for her. She is not pushing gay rights, she is just opening her big mouth and violating the personal right and privacy of others.

    Great article. Excellent job, cheers
