Young pop star Justin Bieber is thoroughly committed to making the jump from the stage to the screen, and he's enlisting at least one big name to help him get there: Mark Wahlberg. Considering his early years as a rapper - under the pseudonym "Marky Mark," no less - it comes as little surprise that the now-Academy Award nominated actor might see a little of himself in the young Bieber; taking him under his wing is just the next logical step. Together, the pair are working on an unnamed basketball film, which will see the singing phenom in his first starring role as an actor. "We've got a first draft," Wahlberg tells E! Online. "They did an edit on the script and [we've] got to make some changes and do a little bit of rewrite and polish, but I've been in contact with [Justin's] managers and the studio a lot. We just want to make it great and we're getting there." Wahlberg made a similar leap to the silver screen when he landed his first role in The Basketball Diaries back in 1995, and he's determined to see his young protégé see the same level of success. "I just think personally we have a great idea," Wahlberg says. "He's a great athlete...he's focused and he wants to have success in the movie world and acting as well. He's focused and patient about finding the right particular part, working with the right people and I think he'd do a great job. I think we have good chemistry and like I said he's right for this particular part and it's an idea we've had for a while." ~Devin Garabedian

I fear for the future of film from this news. Everyone wants the Timberlake trifecta
Justin Timberlake can act. Justin Bieber can't do anything. Mark Wahlberg can act too but he shouldn't do a film with Bieber.
Timberlake's a better actor than a musician (he wasn’t horrendous as a solo musician either); Bieber, on the other hand, sucks at acting, films, and general human-interactions (as evidenced by his latest interview comments).
I want to see him in film about as much as I want to see Kristen Stewart, Lindsay Lohan or the Kardashians earn a living in media.
Just when you think it's safe to take Mark Wahlberg seriously...
I'm completely neutral on Justin Bieber's music because it wasn't created for my generation. I'm not suggesting that he's the greatest singer of all time, but he certainly is an extremely talented "entertainer". Anyone with any intelligence who saw his bio-type movie would recognize that this kid has talent and ambition. Can his critics sing, dance, "entertain" and possibly act in front of thousands/millions of people with such grace and maturity? I couldn't do what this guy does in front of a mirror! He recognizes that the entertainment industry is a business and he clearly takes it seriously. He's also worked hard to get where he is... he wasn't given his success or born into it. So, the next time you want to criticize him, ask yourself if you could do what he does, and if so, why aren't we reading about you? I fail to see how anyone can deny that he is very talented.
Yeah, that ship sailed the moment JB "acted" in CSI. Dont do it Mark! Please, you are so bad-a** and you have a reputation and your a AWESOME ACTOR, DONT DO IT!
What? No!
If Justin Bieber is in a movie just don't go see it.Hollywood will get it and not cast him in movies anymore.
