Matthew McConaughey, Nicole Kidman to star in D Films release

The Paperboy, a thriller starring Matthew McConaughey, Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron and John Cusack, has just been picked up by D FILMS, Canada’s fastest growing motion picture distribution company. Directed by Lee Daniels, who received an Oscar nomination for his 2009 multi award-winning film Precious, The Paperboy is based on the critically-acclaimed novel by Pete Dexter and tells the story of an investigative reporter and his brother (McConaughey and Efron) who are convinced by a mysterious woman (Kidman) that a death row inmate (Cusack) is innocent. They team up to get the man exonerated, but along the way, they learn that there’s far more going on than they initially realized. The drama is slated to be released later this year. Also on D FILMS’ roster for 2012 are Ralph Fiennes’ Shakespeare adaptation Coriolanus, which opens in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal tomorrow (with other cities to follow); Paddy Considine’s new movie Tyrannosaur, which screened at TIFF last year, and Rob Stewart‘s Sharkwater sequel.
