Miles Teller felt ‘dead inside’ while shooting Divergent

Actor Miles Teller has made a name for himself in the world of indie films, but he told W Magazine that he felt “dead inside” while filming the blockbuster film Divergent. “When I first read Whiplash, I was feeling dead inside. I didn’t have an interesting part [in Divergent], and I’d taken the film for business reasons: It was the first movie I’d done that was going to have an international audience. I called my agent and said, ‘This sucks,” he revealed.
The phone conversation led him to the role as a talented drummer in the film Whiplash, which received rave reviews at its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. Miles, who is also set to play Mr. Fantastic in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, said the director wanted him “pale and doughy” for the role, which meant getting out of shape after filming Divergent. “This is the first movie where I shut myself off from the world,” Miles admitted. “It was, by far, the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”
Miles’ rep has already made a statement about his comments regarding Divergent. The statement, published in an article by The Hollywood Reporter, reads: “Accustomed to being more involved in the process of filmmaking, Miles regrets those words. He does value his relationship with Lionsgate and his participation in the franchise.”
Miles is returning to the Divergent franchise in the sequel Insurgent, due in theaters March 20, 2015. ~Kelly Townsend

Steve Burton, who has played Jason Morgan on the long-running soap opera General Hospital for the past 30 years, is the second actor to be fired from the show for refusing to be vaccinated for COVID-19.
What a thing to say. Hopefully he didn’t just shoot himself in the foot there. That could be a career killing comment.
Agreed. He could easily be replaced in the Divergent series, he didn’t have that big of a role.
Every job has its ups and downs, but few bring the fame and huge money that starring in major films brings. Suck it up!
He better watch it or he’ll be like the new Katherine Heigl, its been years since she was on Grey’s Anatomy and she’s still trying to dig herself out of the hole she dug for making negative comments during filming.
I think he had total right to say what he felt. Why he’s returning to do the sequel is what puzzles me, unless he’s under contract. I’ve seen this kid in a few films and he’s a damn good actor. And Fantastic Four? WTF! Stay with the small indie films, dude! Looking forward to Whiplash. Don’t rush to get rich!
The thing of it is that sure everyone has the right to speak their mind but you should never bash a project and it is a good thing he made sure to apologize because as Betty White always says always appreciate success and the job you’re doing because they’re is always someone around the corner who can do it just as good if not better then you.

Actors are notorious for being stupid. That’s why they’re actors. This one’s no exception.
So Divergent destroys his soul but no problem with a Fantastic Four reboot? Another tool looking to attract some attention by generating press anyway he can. Go away quickly and enjoy wondering why no one gives a crap about you in five years.

I can’t stand hearing actors complain. Divergent was a big success; the second one will be even bigger. He should be grateful that he’s in a successful series, because that kind of exposure leads to more opportunities. Acting is a business, and actors will take movies for the pay check, but they shouldn’t complain about having to do that. Those pay checks allow them to have more artistic freedom.
