Moviegoer shot dead for texting during Lone Survivor

If you ever go to the movies, you know how annoying it is when you’re trying to watch a movie while someone continuously uses their cell phone to text. Well, a man in Florida was so outraged that he pulled out a gun to put a stop the cell phone user. Chad Oulson, 43, was texting during the coming attractions prior to a showing of Mark Wahlberg’s Lone Survivor, when retired Tampa police captain Curtis Reeves, 71, who was sitting behind him, became annoyed. He asked Oulson to stop, and when the man didn’t, he then went to get a manager. However, Reeves returned alone and an argument following, which escalated when Oulson threw a bag of popcorn at Reeves, who then pulled out a pistol and shot Oulson in the chest. He later died in hospital. His wife Nicole was shot in the hand with the same bullet while leaning over to try to save her husband. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries. After the shooting, a man sitting next to Reeves grabbed the gun. Reeves did not try to get away. He was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. ~Brie Davis

Wow. America is screwed up. So easy to kill each other because everyone has a gun.

…. another sad day in the land of the free, home of the brave (and NRA)

Texting before the movie even started seems pretty harmless in my book. The article’s title sure is misleading…

I know the feeling. Some people can’t put the damn phone away, especially adult males. It used to be teen girls who texted throughout the entire movie. I think a punch in the head would have been sufficient but the shooter is now saying he was threatened by the guy so he may not even do jail time for this if he can prove he was defending himself.
