My Three Sons star Don Grady dead

Yesterday we said goodbye to one of television’s most beloved big brothers. Don Grady, who played Robbie Douglas on the 1960’s hit My Three Sons has died at the age of 68 after a battle with cancer.  Co-star Barry Livingston – who played youngest brother Ernie, told AP: “It’s the oldest cliché in the world when TV brothers start referring to each other like biological brothers, but he was the oldest, and somebody I looked up to and learned from a great deal about life.” Grady began his career as one of the original Mouseketeers on The Mickey Mouse Club at the age of 13. A musical prodigy from a young age, Grady's single "The Children of St. Monica" made the Billboard Pop Chart in 1966. After My Three Sons came to an end in 1972, he worked primarily as a musician and composer, writing the theme song for The Phil Donahue Show and numerous other TV productions. “The one real through-line in his life was music,” said Livingston. “I would think Don would love to be remembered for his great music as much as a teen idol and television icon.” Grady is survived by his wife, Ginny; two children, Joey and Tessa; a sister, Marilou Reichel and his mother, former talent agent Mary Grady. Another sister, Eight is Enough star Lani O'Grady, died in 2001 of a drug overdose. ~Graeme Mollison
