Natalie Portman, 29, revealed during a radio interview today that she's gone back to being a vegetarian while she's pregnant. Although she had been a vegetarian for over 20 years, two years ago Natalie became a vegan after reading Jonathan Safran Foer's revealing book Eating Animals. However, she told Q100′s Bert Show in Atlanta: “I actually went back to being vegetarian when I became pregnant, just because I felt like I wanted that stuff. I was listening to my body to have eggs and dairy and that sort of stuff. I know there are people who do stay vegan but I think you have to just be careful, watch your iron levels and your B12 levels and supplement those if there are things you might be low in in your diet.” In 2009, Natalie wrote: “I’m often interrogated about being vegetarian. I’ve always been shy about being critical of others’ choices because I hate when people do that to me.” Natalie launched her own line of upscale vegan footwear in 2007 with New York shoe store Te Casan, made from animal-free materials. Vegan and PETA supporter Alicia Silverstone also recently announced she's pregnant, but so far she has not made any changes in her diet.
