New on DVD: The Water Diviner, Home and more

The Water DivinerTake a look at some of the great new movies hitting DVD this week that will be sure to keep your family entertained. Spend this weekend with titles like The Water Diviner and Home, which lead this week’s new releases.

In The Water Diviner, four years following the devastating battle of Gallipoli during World War I, an Australian farmer (Russell Crowe) goes in search of his three sons who were reported missing in action but never found. He heads to Turkey to try and find some sort of clue as to where they are or get closure into their deaths.

When Oh (Jim Parsons), an alien from another planet finds his way to Earth in Home, he has a chance meeting with a young girl, Tip (Rihanna), and the two from an unlikely friendship. Oh is on the run from the Boov, and Tip wants to find her mother. With a little help, they may both get what they want.

When aging actress Maria Enders (Juliette Binoche) is asked to play a different role in the same play that made her famous 20 years ago in Clouds of Sils Maria, she finds herself regretting it instantly as the actress (Chloë Grace Moretz) who is brought in to play her original role is hell-bent on stealing the spotlight. However, Maria’s assistant Valentine (Kristen Stewart) may have more influence than she realizes.

A modern day re-telling of the Shakespeare classic, Cymbeline is not one to miss. A take-no-prisoners drug war wages between police and bikers. When times become desperate, drug lord Cymbeline (Ed Harris) is forced to take extreme measures to ensure his survival.

In White God, Lili is a young girl who loves her dog very much, but when she is forced to live with her father for a few months, he doesn’t want to keep the dog and abandons him under a viaduct. The dog, alone and confused, is caught by the authorities, but manages to escape along with a large pack of fellow canines. Lili searches high and low for her best friend.

Corbo is the story of a young student living in 1960’s Montreal who is radicalized by the Front de libération du Québec (FLQ). He climbs the ranks, in opposition to his wealthy Liberal lawyer father. ~Greg Chisholm
