After recent announcements that judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez will be leaving American Idol, fans have been speculating as to who will be their replacements. Mariah Carey is just one of the names that have been mentioned, along with Aretha Franklin and Nicki Minaj. However, Carey’s husband, Nick Cannon, seems to think American Idol will have to empty their pockets to get his wife. He told photographers yesterday, “I don't know if they can afford Mariah Carey. That's a lot of money. If they gave J.Lo $20 million, they might have to double that.” Clearly, Carey doesn’t come cheap! Previously, her salary demands eliminated her from the prospect of becoming a new X Factor judge. Since American Idol is downsizing next season, it's unlikely the series will be able to afford her. ~Isabelle Khoo
