Nightmare on Elm StreetA Nightmare on Elm Street (Tribute viewer rating: 3.3 stars out of 5) scared off the competition at last week’s box office, earning $33 million across North America. Last week’s No. 1 movie and a favorite for six weeks was How to Train Your Dragon (Tribute viewer rating: 4.6), earning an additional $11 million in second place for a total take of $193 million. Date Night (Tribute viewer rating: 4.2), starring Steve Carrell and Tina Fey, held onto the third spot, earning $7.6 million for a four week total of $74 million. The Back-Up Plan (Tribute viewer rating: 3.6)starring Jennifer Lopez earned only $7.2 million in its second weekend for a paltry two-week total of $23 million, still not enough to cover its $35 million cost. An even bigger bomb at the box office was Furry Vengeance (Tribute viewer rating: 2.4), which also cost $35 million to produce, but only earned $6.5 million since opening on Friday. The same movies received the same ranking at the Canadian box office, which also includes the Canadian movie Gunless (Tribute viewer rating: 4) in 11th place, earning $252,000.
