Tribute would like to take this opportunity to remember the celebrities who have passed away this year. They provided entertainment and escapism and in many ways, these directors, actors and producers have shared their stories, most of which are known worldwide. We laughed and cried and sat on the edge of our seats, excited and anxious, wanting to know what would happen next, thanks to these men and women. For all their years of dedication and love for show business, not to mention their very colorful lives, we commemorate those who have died and hope that Hollywood continues to nurture talents such as these. ~ Chantelle Rodrigo

At least, they will be remembered forever in movies…!
Wow, there are so many who I’ll miss. I didn’t even realize some of these actors had died. Barbara Billingsley (Leave it to Beaver), Robert Culp (I Spy, The Greatest American Hero), James McArthur (Hawaii 5-0, he was Helen Hayes’ son). I know Fess Parker was a big Disney star in the 50s, I wasn’t born back then but I love Disney trivia. Tom Bosley of Happy Days (and The World of Henry Orient, I love that movie). And Patricia Neal, whose life was pretty tragic, but she managed to hang in there. RIP, thanks for all the good times.
These were a special breed of stars and will be sorely missed!!! There will never be the like of them again!!!
We are losing all of our precious stars which shone so brightly & were in a class all by themselves; most set a great example of style, class & talent!!! Yes, they will be remembered in movies & the lives they affected forever!!!
Agree Lillian, great commment!
I don’t think I saw any of her movies, but June Havoc was Baby June, the little sister of Gypsy Rose Lee. Their lives are portrayed in the musical Gypsy, which is one of my favourite stage musicals. The movie with Natalie Wood as Gypsy Rose was pretty good, too.
I get more and more nostalgic when I look at the names of people who pass away each year. Everytime someone dies I get one more year older and one more person from closer to my generation and from more of my memories makes me really think about the work they did. I keep having a video weekend of their works and I love doing that now. I have a new tradition that some might think is morbid, that I’ll only rent or stream the movies of dead actors/actresses/directors etc.. but to me It’s keeping their memory alive and inviting others to enjoy the films which usually aren’t seen on regular TV rotation.
Here’s to each of them and their legacies they left behind for everyone to still enjoy.
Lillian Young said it all for me as well. They truly were in a class of their own!
Right on, Lillian! And C-Dub; more power to ya’! It sounds like a good idea–I should watch more of the old time movies too! I was a big fan of Robert Culp’s; like him and so many others, we have really lost some of the greats!! Just brings me to wondering–who will go this year?–possibly Martin Sheen or Michael Douglas?!!! Time will tell. Well, it really is a shame, but life goes on, ‘eh? But, it is sad to lose so many of the greats, year after year!
