ouija_boardUniversal Studios is planning to produce “a supernatural action-adventure movie” based on the Ouija board. They’ve hired Lost writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, who also wrote the screenplay for next year’s Tron Legacy, to write the script. According to the Hollywood Reporter: “It is possible that certain rules of the game — never use it alone, never use it in a graveyard, always say good-bye — figure into the plot.” Sounds pretty good — who doesn’t remember getting goose bumps playing with a Ouija board when they were a kid? Though Ouija boards have been around for more than 2,000 years, the board as we know it today was first manufactured in the 1890s. From 1966 to 1991, it was manufactured by Parker Bros. and is now sold by Hasbro, which also has a hand in producing the movie.

No, we haven’t had a ouija board movie. The closest thing I can recall is the Exorcist. They blamed the girl getting possessed on the ouija board. That’s about it. Could be interesting if they come up with a good plot. Who knows. I’m like you though, won’t know until I see a trailer.

There have been plenty of other movies though, involving the use of the ouija board: Amityville 3D (the one with Lori Laughlin); What Lies Beneath.
