Paris Jackson suicide attempt

By Tribute on June 5, 2013 | 47 Comments

Michael Jackson’s 15-year-old daughter Paris Jackson was rushed to the hospital after a suicide attempt. Her mother, Debbie Rowe, confirmed the news to Entertainment Tonight, saying that Paris has had “a lot going on [lately]” in terms of her daughter’s state of mind. At approximately 2 a.m. Wednesday morning Paris was taken from her Calabasas, California home on a stretcher and taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital after a 911 call came in reporting that she had cut her wrists. Just hours earlier, the teenager had posted cryptic Twitter statuses, reading, “I wonder why tears are so salty?” and “Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away now it looks as though they’re here to stay.” Her grandmother Katherine Jackson released a statement saying, “Being a sensitive 15 year old is difficult no matter who you are. It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you. Paris is physically fine and is getting appropriate medical attention. Please respect her privacy and the family’s privacy.” ~Naomi Leanage

Very sad. I hope this kid finds some peace in her life.

  2. Katherine • June 6, 2013 @ 12:14 AM

Agree. To lose your dad so young has to be really hard. I hope her family gives her support.

  3. Swellie • June 6, 2013 @ 10:01 AM

What do you expect when she was raised with a mask on her face and no mother?

  4. David • June 6, 2013 @ 10:05 AM

    Very, very sad.

  5. Belle • June 6, 2013 @ 10:47 AM

Just hope she gets the proper medical treatment. Poor kid.

  6. Wendy • June 6, 2013 @ 12:34 PM

    Dear Lord,
Place a special guardian angel around this child….pry off all the emotional damage she’s suffered being born into this eccentric family. Give her the tools she needs to find “normal” and deal with this bizarre life she’s been dealt.

  7. brat • June 6, 2013 @ 12:51 PM

    Amen Wendy

  8. Janet Simon • June 6, 2013 @ 1:05 PM

Paris, You need to get help. You have such a bright future, don’t mess it up. It is hard to lose a parent, I lost my mother at your age. I also just lost my 26year old daughter. I know your Dad would not want you to do this. He is watching over you, so PLEASE, Paris, get help.

  9. Sol • June 6, 2013 @ 1:09 PM

    Dear Paris,

Suicide is a very personal choice that, frankly, more people should probably be making. Better luck next time!

    Your pal,
    Dr. Sol

  10. Bob • June 6, 2013 @ 1:20 PM

Sol…..Wow! Your wishing Paris to succeed in killing herself. If you believe that suicide is choice in solving whatever problems a person has then I think you also need help.

Suicide attempts are a desperate call for help. Several pictures of Paris were shown on TV of old cuts on her arms. So this girl has been calling for help for quite a while now……Why isn’t anyone in her family answering?

  11. Sol • June 6, 2013 @ 1:34 PM

    Dear Bob,

In this world of so much suffering and misery, when pretty much anyone in a First World country, let alone someone born into an unimaginable life of privilege, has the nerve to think THEIR life is so bad they should end it, I’m inclined to support that decision. We can’t take care of all of the people who WANT to live; let the ones who don’t get the hell out of our way.

    Your pragmatic pal,
    Dr. Sol

  12. Antonious007 • June 6, 2013 @ 1:46 PM

A big Amen to Wendy’s post, as to Dr. Sol…rhymes with Troll baby, good luck with that.

  13. Sol • June 6, 2013 @ 2:21 PM

Riiight, because “God” (snicker) hasn’t already blessed this particular child enough. Give her a SPECIAL guardian angel. The thousands of non-celebrity kids dying of starvation in the world as we speak? Screw them, right God? Right Wendy? Yeah, amen to THAT.

And just because I’m the only one here not spouting meaningless drivel about how bad they feel for this spoiled little brat, doesn’t make me a troll.

    Dr. “Rhymes with Tall” Sol

  14. Dalyce • June 6, 2013 @ 3:01 PM

Taking your own life is NOT a valid choice for anyone, but a cry for help. And just for the record Dr. (medical misanthrope no doubt) Sol, money and privilege is of little consequence when you’re born into a grotesquely dysfunctional family like the Jacksons. Hopefully, the girl can get the help she needs and break free of the circus she was born into.

  15. Elyana • June 6, 2013 @ 3:11 PM

  16. Christopher King • June 6, 2013 @ 3:19 PM

The media needs to back off and leave these two kids alone and in peace.

  17. Sol • June 6, 2013 @ 3:26 PM

Here’s a prescription: Instead of using attempted (or even more futile, successful) suicide as a cry for help, just, um, cry for help. If everyone born into a dysfunctional family offed themselves, there would be much shorter lineups at Disneyland. Bottom line is that we come into this world with only one real objective and that is TO SURVIVE and there are people on this planet who have to fight the very environment they live in EVERY DAY just to do so. If you try to kill yourself because, say, Daddy doesn’t love you, you are turning your back on your very DNA and the entire human race and I have no sympathy for you. I’m not saying we all need to walk around stoic – like I said, ask for help if you can’t help yourself – but Western society, especially our teens, have turned into such a bunch of miserable whiners, I’m sick of it. Dysfunctional family or not, compared to MOST of the world, our lives are fucking AMAZING and all we do is bitch and complain about it. The talk of the town this week was Game of Thrones spoilers – SERIOUSLY?! Imagine if your problem was, oh I don’t know, not having access to WATER.

I don’t wish this girl or anyone else any harm but if you really want to kill yourself go the right the hell ahead as far as I’m concerned. One less gutless loser in our gene pool.

  18. OPR • June 6, 2013 @ 3:27 PM

Sol, you are an idiot & you need help ASAP! The world would not miss YOU too much anyway as you have soooo little to offer! After raising 2 daughters, I learned how difficult it is to get though those teenage years & try to find your place in life. Eventually you do…. Paris is such a beautiful human being. She has so much to offer this world. Hang in there sweet girl. You will find your place one day & be ever so greatful for your beautiful life. You have so much going for you. We love you & wish you you the best, just like your Dad always did.

  19. gbh999 • June 6, 2013 @ 3:45 PM

This girl needs to get better, and divorce herself from the circus, going on in her life. Granma, and granpa, are just/still, only after the money. See if Mom needs her little girl, back in her life. She could probably give Paris, the guidance she needs.

  20. Gus • June 6, 2013 @ 3:54 PM

Gotta to agree with Dr. Sol on this one sorry. What help do these uber rich celebrity kids need that other kids who are really in dire straits dont need a thousand times more but would take 1% of but will ultimate get 0% of? Paris real problem (other than having the name of another useless rich idiot) is that her white mother was paid to have a baby with a white doctor so a black man who is so screwed up that he so desperately wanted to be white he convinced himself he could manufacture white kids and call them his own biological kids even if none of them have a drop of his blood or any black person’s blood in them. Mum is a garden tool, real dad is money hungry scum and supposed dad is a weirdo, so how is the kid of such an unholy union attempting suicide news? Pluleeeze lets help people who really need it.

Dr “rhymes with dont give a….” Luck

  21. Sol • June 6, 2013 @ 3:57 PM

Piss off OPR, getting through teenage years is not that difficult in North America. That’s one of the problems – people like you who make it seem like it’s the biggest deal in the world.

I have much to offer – especially advice to teenagers as follows:

You’re not that important. Most of the people whose opinion of you you’re so worried about will not remember you in 10 years and you won’t remember them. Life is good and if you choose it will only get better. Don’t kill yourself, stupid.

  22. C-Dub • June 6, 2013 @ 4:07 PM

It sucks bc she probably was very close to her dad considering the children had to be very sheltered. Damn paparazzi.

  23. C-Dub • June 6, 2013 @ 4:11 PM

Hey Sol I grew up in a very hard knock life. I’m not saying you did or didn’t but its not as easy for one person as compared to another. I always think life is about survival but I grew up in the projects plus third world country. So not everyone’s life is difficult and about survival, everyone’s situation is different and giving advice of just sucking it up might not be appropriate.

  24. Diana • June 6, 2013 @ 5:32 PM

i hope she gets the proper medical treatment, such beautiful children living in a complicated, gifted family, all my prayers to them especially Paris.

  25. Tracy • June 6, 2013 @ 5:33 PM

How nice of her “mother” to verify a suicide attempt. A truly loving parent would not have said a word to the press. I am sure that her “mother” has been causing alot of stress in her life which would be difficult on any teenager in this situation, not just a famous one. Her grandmothers statement was perfect, and she should keep her “mother” -who gave away all parental rights in exchange for money- away from her.

  26. Bob • June 6, 2013 @ 5:38 PM

    Dear Sol

Every human life is valuable & worth saving…. those in 1st world countries as well as those rich & famous.

I worked with suicidal teens & now with palliative care clients & I see everyday these people suffering but fighting to see another day.

And I disagree with you….Yes we can take care of ALL the people who need help. Its just a matter of everyone giving some of their time to help someone.

Sol…you should examine why you have such a negative attitude towards life.

  27. Donna • June 6, 2013 @ 6:53 PM

Oh Dear…I hope she heals and finds the strength to grow into the fabulous young woman she is meant to be.
Take care little one.Life has been a little rougher on you than most teens and understandably hard to deal with. Please dont give up.You are worth fight for.

  28. Lisette • June 6, 2013 @ 10:03 PM

Hang in there you beautiful young woman things will get better for you and a wonderful life is a head of you .

  32. Monique • June 7, 2013 @ 3:59 PM

Yes it’s hard to loose a parent but try loosing a child a grandchild at the age of 21 mth Paris thinks she has problems well she would not live 5 minutes in my shoes !! So suck it up rich princess

  33. Nova • June 7, 2013 @ 8:25 PM

Sol, you’re an idiot. You think you’re being pragmatic but what you’re really being is a grade A douchebag that sounds as about intellectually developed as a soap dish and about as deep. Money doesn’t open all doors or solve all problems. It cannot fill the holes carved out by abuses current or future and it can bar you for life from people intimidated by their perception of what having it means. Living in a nice house doesn’t mean that house is safe. Just because you have a superiority complex about your inferiority complex about your obvious poverty issues (uhh, welcome to the average working class) doesn’t mean you get to jump in and think you’ve got a clue into the life of a person who was born into a circumstance you don’t have. If you think everyone who is in a state if mind to be facing suicide should, I think there should be a lot more morgues filled with meat sacks who used to think like you. Go find another less annoying way to size up your microscoping package. Overcompensation for lack of size is a terribly unattracrive quality. The “don’t whine because third world countries” speech is probably the most vapid thing a person could come up with to justify being a sphincter.

  34. My Opinion • June 7, 2013 @ 9:51 PM

Whenever you think of ending your life because of whatever misery your going through, first think of all those millions of people that have it much, much worst then you. And try to imagine yourself in their shoes. Then you’ll realize how lucky you are.

I took a few days to read this article, because when I heard the news on T.V., I was surprised. Paris came across as the smart, tough one. I am 53 years old, and have been through much. It has been through MYSELF only, that I have stayed on this earth. I think I lived way too long, and then, sometimes I feel that I am just starting. I take care of myself, am confident, fit, attractive, and people are drawn to me or hate me because of this. Most people are not like me. I am not a follower. I do not need the approval of anyone to do what I need to. I am also very considerate and personable. I have my donor card signed, and I am only important to me. I want to die alone, and do not need a fancy funeral, or to take up space in the ground. I’ve had no money, and a bit of it. It does not make how you feel about life much different. If I wanted to die, I would pursue it. If I didn’t, I would not. If my life ended tomorrow, I would be fine. I am at peace and a realist. I’ve had many people in my life, and at present, just a couple. I want to change that. But… only I can change that. I never felt a part of my family, and moved on. I am a strong soul, and I have done it by myself. People have helped me along the way, but I pick and choose where I want them. I treat people well, but if I don’t get the same back, I move on. I am fine alone. If people want to die, I respect that. But… if they want help… there is that. I think that people say that living matters, but the person matters first. I cannot LIVE for someone else. And… I believe in God, but I have questions, and in the end for now, I choose life. What others want, is up to them. It is THEIR life, not someone else’s.And you can always say that someone else’s life is better or worse. Not a great comparison. You have to be real and deal. And… you cannot buy self-esteem.I have seen the best and the worst… if you love yourself, that is what carries you through. In the end I love God, but I have choices. I am not against or for suicide. It is a choice.

  36. Debbie • June 8, 2013 @ 4:41 PM

I wanted to add, that I have never been to a funeral, and people have come and gone as if they had died. I don’t feel sorry for whiners, and have never played the victim. People see me as sweet, but realize that I am strong. I wanted to die at Paris’ age. Off and on, really. Sometimes, you just want “off the ride”. Is normal to feel that way. Paris needs positive people in her life, and to have inner peace and love for herself. I was on my own at 17 yrs. of age, when I called in sick for work and my mom got me fired and threw me out that night. I was saving to move out, and moved on. I’ve had desperate situations that I had to get out of. Only you can save yourself. I feel that if I had died at 15, or waited until now, that I do not really feel any different. I am here for me, not anyone else. But… I feel I am a genuine and nice person, who does not take. Hopefully, Paris will get through this if she wants to, but maybe she is meant to die this way. I believe that we have control over our lives, but do we really?Again, I do not dwell on things. I have had many relationships, and lived life. Feel sorry for people that cannot move on.
