Peter Dinklage to star in R-rated comedy

Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage is set to headline an untitled comedy from Paramount Pictures. The project comes from an original idea by Andrew Dodge, whose last and only screenplay – Jason Bateman’s directorial debut Bad Words – received critical acclaim at the Toronto International Film Festival. The comedy’s distribution rights were bought by Focus Features for $7 million. The R-rated film will be produced by Mary Parent and Cale Boyter through studio Disruption Entertainment. The project is said to be tonally similar to Bad Words, which featured heavy swearing with a light-hearted conclusion. It has also been likened to Bad Santa, which starred Billy Bob Thornton as a foul-mouthed mall Santa. Whilst no details have been officially revealed, it is believed that the story centers around Dinklage’s character as he pretends to be a leprechaun. Dinklage, who won a Golden Globe and an Emmy for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister on the critically acclaimed HBO series Game of Thrones, will next star as Bolivar Trask in the highly anticipated X-Men: Days of Future Past. The Marvel adaptation is set for release May 23, 2014. ~Raj-Kabir Birk
