With science-fiction films more popular now than ever before, there is an inevitable depth of quality entertainment out there—if you know where to look. With so many strong entries in the genre, it's hard to pick just a handful. Still, here are our top 15 sci-fi flicks from the year 2000 to the present. Disagree? Sound off below.

Gotta say, none of these would rate as my favourites. What happened to the original "The Day the Earth Stood Still" or "Alien" and "Aliens" or the original "War of the Worlds", to name a few.
er... Serenity?
I think of myself as a serious sci-fi fan, but I'm surprised that there are a number of films on that list I've yet to see, as well as a few missing that would have been obvious choices for me. Serenity, I Robot and the latest Star Trek reincarnation come to mind.
This list shouldn't be the top Sci-fi, but top existential films. More than 90% of these films are about the psychological journey with fantasy/sci-fi elements. My idea of pure sci-fi involve aliens, spaceships and galactic travel; but that's just me.
